Elena palace does not have a good location. It is near a red light area which is not a good especially with family. Although the hotel looked good when you enter, the staff were very rude. I was surprised with the company policy of not turning on air conditioning when it was 25 Degree temparature. They only turn on in... more

My adult daughter and I had pre booked this hotel for the second time in less than 2 years. Our 1st stay in 2007 was adequate, this time was a bit of a nightmare !! After travelling for 14 hours on different planes we arrived at the hotel to be told there was a water problem and they would move... more

My boyfriend and I have just returned from 3 nights in Madrid staying at the Maria Elena Palace. We arrived late on Thursday night to a very rude Receptionist who, when he eventually looked up from his computer to greet us, spoke in broken English and declared that we would be getting a "very beautiful room" on the top floor.... more

Location central but in a very scruffy and smelly street. Hotel's public areas very pleasant and airy. Room small and not very luxurious. Service a bit on the poor side, not enough staff. Often waited at the bar area for somebody to turn up. Breakfast is fine if you like alot of processed cakes and pastries. Hot food of poor... more

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my girlfriends, the location was amazing, were in the midst of centro, meaning everything was walking distance and yet the hotel was tucked away on a quite street, so the noise was not an over kill. Well thats what I thought at first until we were rudely awaken by hammering at... more

I stayed in this hotel together with my daughter for 3 nights. The atmosphere in the hotel is excellent and the staff (English-speaking) are very friedly. The room was slightly small but very comfortable. Try the massage shower - it is a very interesting and almost unique experience! The beds were very comfortable and the linen crispy fresh. The main... more

My girlfriend booked a secret romantic getaway for the two of us in Madrid over the Christmas holidays. Everything went like clockwork until we arrived at our pre-booked hotel, Maria Elena. On arrival, some vague reference was made to the water needing fixing and we were told that we would have to be transferred to another Hotel miles outside the... more

We are a senior couple who stayed in the Maria Elena Palace Hotel in Madrid for 2 nights in early October. We just happened upon a great rate of 75.00 euro per night, and boy, did we luck out! The room was on the small side but perfectly adequate for the two of us, and very spotless. The bathroom was... more

Location couldn't be better. On a side street, close to Plaza del Sol. The side street affords a quiet place in a city full of noise and people. A grand lobby beckons to days of old and the great hotels. Was disappointed in the room size and it was a little tight, but good enough closet space to get luggage... more
