I chose this hotel for the positive reviews in this site, but was disappointed. Yes, the staff is helpful. Yes, the hall is imposing. Yes the place is central. BUT: 1) the road is so narrow you taxi will not be able to stop by (unless traffic is stopped too, which is what happens); 2) the room I was given... more

I have been looking through some of the reviews concerning this hotel and having just returned from a 3 night visit would like to add some comments. The Hotel is located centrally for shopping, theatre etc it is not in a red light area but 'ladies of the night' do frequent the main street a short walk away. The spanish... more

The beds were extremely hard. The phone was broken, the tv was broken, they don't have an iron in the entire hotel (it was broken). There was so much noise outside of the hotel, THE ENTIRE NIGHT, that it made it impossible to sleep. The only positive thing I have to say is the sheets and towels were nice. We... more

Elena palace does not have a good location. It is near a red light area which is not a good especially with family. Although the hotel looked good when you enter, the staff were very rude. I was surprised with the company policy of not turning on air conditioning when it was 25 Degree temparature. They only turn on in... more

My adult daughter and I had pre booked this hotel for the second time in less than 2 years. Our 1st stay in 2007 was adequate, this time was a bit of a nightmare !! After travelling for 14 hours on different planes we arrived at the hotel to be told there was a water problem and they would move... more

My boyfriend and I have just returned from 3 nights in Madrid staying at the Maria Elena Palace. We arrived late on Thursday night to a very rude Receptionist who, when he eventually looked up from his computer to greet us, spoke in broken English and declared that we would be getting a "very beautiful room" on the top floor.... more

Location central but in a very scruffy and smelly street. Hotel's public areas very pleasant and airy. Room small and not very luxurious. Service a bit on the poor side, not enough staff. Often waited at the bar area for somebody to turn up. Breakfast is fine if you like alot of processed cakes and pastries. Hot food of poor... more

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my girlfriends, the location was amazing, were in the midst of centro, meaning everything was walking distance and yet the hotel was tucked away on a quite street, so the noise was not an over kill. Well thats what I thought at first until we were rudely awaken by hammering at... more

I stayed in this hotel together with my daughter for 3 nights. The atmosphere in the hotel is excellent and the staff (English-speaking) are very friedly. The room was slightly small but very comfortable. Try the massage shower - it is a very interesting and almost unique experience! The beds were very comfortable and the linen crispy fresh. The main... more
