This was our 4th and final hotel on our 2 week/4 city trip throughout Spain. All of the hotels were of the same approximate star level on all of the travel websites we checked, however this hotel, by far, was well below our expectations after staying at the previous 3. Pros: Location.....was perfect for us. Close to so much. Front... More

Stayed here for a week's work in Madrid and invited my husband to accompany me. Had a lovely week in the city and the hotel. It was very friendly and comfortable with an excellent breakfast. The location was perfect for exploring Madrid.

We stayed for 3 nights and on arrival were very pleased with its central location and quiet street. We were shown to our room which was fine except for the fact that it overlooked a concrete wall. We asked for a room at the front which they immediately agreed to. Huge mistake! The room itself was bigger with a view... More

Our room was broken into and the safe was lifted from the room and walked out using a piece of our luggage. The police showed me how easy it was done with just a pocket knife. Passports, credit cards and cash stolen. The hotel promised to pay for our loss but as soon as we left it has not returned... More

The hotel is in the perfect location in Madrid, near to 4 metro stops, 2 of which being Gran Via and Sol. We were there for the Madrid Open so we spent very little time in the hotel, however, the rooms were comfortable, the shower was very good which is very important to me and there was air conditioning which... We thought the location, on a tiny side street near one of the busiest and most exciting plazas in Madrid was great. The lobby had just the right touch of elegance. Then we went to our room. The electronic key card didn't work. I hunted down a maid and her card didn't work. She went somewhere and brought an old-fashioned... More

While staying in this hotel in April, someone that had the facility to enter my room (Staff ?) robbed from my locked luggage money and cigarettes to the value of 430 euros, to add insult to injury when I reported this to the manager I was treated as if I had fabricated this incident So be warned: There is a... Good centrally located hotel. Lovely foyer area. Rooms clean, however I did find the bed a bit hard and uncomfortable. Pleasant staff and a really good breakfast. I found it quiet as well, especially for being in such a central area. Would return.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
