Could not be more central. 1 minute walk to the Plaza La Puerta del Sol but just at the back street and quiet. The room was very clean. They provide a free walking tour from Feel The City Tours. The staff was kind and helpful.

Located on calle Aduana, a stone's throw away from Puerta del Sol, a quick walk to Gran Via. Friendly staff. I arrived early around 10am and my room was understandably not ready. They kept my luggage for me while I took a stroll. When I got back around 3pm, the room was ready. It was quite small with one edge... More

Situated downtown Madrid my impression was that is an old building transformed in a kind of boutique hotel. The transformation leads to a nice arrangement with a kind of home-away feeling, but also leads to a very sinuous and narrow access to the rooms. Personnell is very kind and supportive, they gave us all informations in order to allow us... More

We spent 3 nights here during our city break in Madrid. The location is absolutely fantastic as it is within walking distance from lots of bars, restaurants, shopping areas and tourist attractions. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean but not quite at 4* level. Our shower was old and water pressure was very weak. Not a... More

I stayed at Maria Elena Place from 30Nov for 4 nights. Location is excellent...just 2 minutes from Gran Via Metro station. Check-in was smooth and very friendly staff. Room size is decent. I feel the rooms need a renovation. Breakfast was the same on all the 4 days!

The hotel really needs refurbishment including some double glazed windows. The night from the street going on all night is unbearable if you happen to have a room overlooking the street, notwithstanding that my room was on the fourth floor. Everything is just adequate. Location of the hotel makes up for everything as it is very central.

This hotel is nicely located in the inner lane from main street and near to most of the tourist attractions.HON off and on bus pick up points are also nearer to this hotel and also many food shops and shops for local marketing.Rooms are good, cleanliness good and reception staff helping.Rates are reasonable.

The rooms are fine. The price was right. The location is excellent. The place is clean. The standout though, is the wonderful desk staff. We met at least 6 or 7 and each was nicer and more helpful than the next. One caveat at this hotel, ask for a room in the middle. You don't want a room at the... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
