Not very good English language skills by staff that's working in El Coloso, some of them ignoring objections on WIFI not working - 4 star hotel that has no Internet connection in the rooms, with WIFI no working and only two computers that you have to fight over with bunch of US soccer kids, nor any pool or gym to... more

stayed here just for the one night - there are much better hotels in madrid in roughly the same area, for the same price. took about 20 minutes to check in due to some sort of confusion (no idea what) and when we entered our room we were hit with the most ungodly stink which i can only assume was... more

I was only booked in for one night and this was one too many. The a/c in the room only made a noise but do not perform any other function so I did not get any sleep. The bed was very firm, not too bad for me, but other peole I was travelling with did not like thier beds at... more

*** WARNING – they are currently having building works completed *** We stayed at this hotel for two nights. This hotel is reasonable. The rooms are clean and a good size. The location is good in terms of being off the Gran Via but the road itself is not great. Madrid centre is fairly compact and easy enough to walk... more

hotel is very easy to find via public transport. from the airport take the tube. the tube nearest to the hotel (plaza espagna. please mind my spelling!) is on the same line as the airport, and will cost you less than a couple of euros to get there. saves heaps on taxi costs! the hotel itself is nice. free internet... more

Hotel El Coloso is located on a little side street off the Grand Via in Madrid - between two main Metro stops and squares. There are dozens of nice restaurants nearby and a police precinct just a couple doors down from the hotel. My husband and I spent 4 nights there in May while we toured Madrid. The building is... more

Bit apprehensive as read mixed reviews. Pretty good location 5 mins from main shopping area on Gran Via. Not exactly the finest location in Madrid but ok and safe in indo chinese area- Excellent staff and breakfast. Had two adjacent rooms- double was really small but the twin was excellent. Clean/ wifi accessed free . Lovely and quiet at night... more

I went to Madrid to visit a few girlfriends (who live all over Europe) and after much searching we settled on this hotel as it appeared to have great location and was a good price. We were not disappointed - it is located on a side street but it isn't bad, next to the Police station but I never heard... more

We spent a week at this hotel. It is very centrally located and near several Metro stations, although Leganitos street is a bit shabby. There is a police station next door which made us feel more secure. Madrid is "pickpocket central" so we made sure we left our passports, military IDs, credit cards if we knew we were not going... more

I stayed here for 3 days in November. The hotel was fine overall, while I have no complaints I also don't have anything spectacular to say about it. The lobby was nice enough, free computer to use. The location was decent for the price, not right near the attractions but only 5 minutes from the Gran Via. The street itself... more
