This hotel was well managed and extremely clean. The rooms were very clean and the bed linen crisp. All the facilities of the hotel were of the highest calibre. It is evident that this hotel realises that they must provide a good service as they are not as centrally located as many of the Madrid hotels Having said this, the... More

The hotel is perfectly located near Serrano in the Salamanca neighborhood. Buffet quality and variety are excellent. Beds are small but comfortable. Some installations as carpets need updating and the wifi connectivity is slow but overall good performance

Hotel is in Barrio de Salamanca which is quiet and pretty. We got a room upgrade on arrival and found the front desk staff member helpful and informative. Our room was spacious and very clean. WiFi worked perfectly every evening. The cleaning staff were extremely friendly and very thorough, a real credit to the hotel. Breakfast was superb, you will... More

I was in hotel Melia Galgos last weekend. When I arrived there I found a so classy hotel with and amazing lobby. It's a bit dark inside, but it's the way to create the kind of modernity mood. The reception staff was fantastic, so gentle and helpful. The room was so good, big enough for us, we asked for a... More

We stayed at the Melia Galgos as part of a Gate1 Tour. The hotel has a great location a few minutes walk from the Metro. The lobby and rooms were clean and modern. The breakfast buffet was expansive and delicious. What really stood out was the great service provided by the front desk staff. Gabriel, in particular really stood out... More

It's hard to say what style the decorator was going for, modern trendy, or traditional European, but the hotel was well maintained and comfortable. My room was large for a European single, but the window not only didn't open, it was only there to let in filtered light, there was no view outside. I love the neighborhood, yes, it's about... More

My company put me here recently for a few days and I enjoyed it - nice hotel with good breakfast and a nice room - but it was a very busy hotel with lots of hustle and bustle so something to note if that's not your taste. The location is good if you like to be away from the tourist... More

The hotel has very little curb appeal from the street. When you enter the lobby that somewhat changes. The lobby and a joking bar areas are large and done in a typical modern European decor. The rooms are typical European old hotel rooms. Comfortable, efficient, but dated. The staff was present and attentive. The hotel is close to my companies... More

Stayed 2 nights with a Gate1 Tour. The lobby is striking and beautiful..but the rooms are small and not very nice. For a tourist, there is no reason to stay here - no shopping nearby - no parks or things to do...very few restuarants. But our biggest complaint was that it took more than 2 hours for the staff to... Dear Dunedin34698, Thank you for sharing your experience in Tripadvisor. I am trully dissapointed to read that you did not enjoy your experience to the fullest due to the location of the Hotel. Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
