I stayed in this Melia because it was recommended. And it was a good choice, the hotel is clean, in a good location. The taxi rate to Centro (downtown) is less than 10 euros and for the airport 30 euros. The breakfast buffet excellent and the wifi is nice in the room. If I come back to Madrid in a... More

I stayed over the New Year celebration, for a 4 nights with my wife and a friends. The hotel is just fit for the purpose, i.e. when you don't plan to spend time in it. We had our meals in some lovely Madrid restaurants and tabernas, usually leaving the hotel in the morning and returning just before evening. Hotel itself... More

My wife and I stayed at the Melia Galgos for two weeks to see the museums of the city. We like this hotel because it has one of the best locations, near Calle Serrano and in the upscale Barrio Salamanca, which has the best security in Madrid. One feels safe in the neighborhood, even at night. The people who work... More

Good location, great staff...but the carpet, walls, are worn down and need upgrading...in addition the room work space is very old fashioned. The bathroom was clean, but the ceiling had humidity stains...Breakfast quality was excellent

Hotel is located in the heart of the Salamanca business and residential district, about 5 minutes walk from the US embassy, and many good restaurants and bars. Within walking distance you will also find the high streets (Serrano, Velazquez...) with the branded stores and one of the El Corte Ingles department stores. The room was comfortable and clean. I found... More

Barrio de Salamanca is a top area of Madrid and so are often the prices. This 4* hotel offers reasonable rates and good quality at a footstep from street Serrano with top shops and restaurants. With more business people than tourists, so is the hotel functionally decorated with predominance of grey, metal and straight lines. The booked "Classic" room turned... More

hotel is situated in very good location - salamanca district, close to good shops and very well connected with city centre by metro - line green. unfortunatelly, food quality is extremely disappointing - both on breakfasts and dinners. i recommend not to eat in hotel - go outside. you will find cheaper and much tastier food very easily

I spent 2 night on a business trip. booked a superior renovated room. Room: spacious, clean, mattress a bit thin. no view. but the biggest issue was the noise coming from the bathrooms - you hear a terrible noise every time someone is using the bathroom from other rooms located on higher floors; it wakes you up in the middle... We stayed for 2 nights recently on a tour. Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
