On a recent leisure trip to Madrid my husband selected this hotel, largely due to it's proximity to Atocha Station, which erroneously he anticipated we'd be using alot to get to side trips outside Madrid. (We ended up using buses instead.) It turned out to be a pleasant find. Our room was large with a large bathroom as well. (Not... more

Hotel is ok but staff friendliness is not that good. The rooms are clean and well maintained. No problem with security. There is a 2 Euro charge per day for in room safe. Location is perfect, only 5 min walk to central train station. You can take a train to Toledo, only 40min. Internet is pretty expensive in this place. more

Enjoyed it!

Just back from 4 nights at this hotel, staying with my mum. We found all hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful and all spoke excellent English. The breakfast spread was good, but very geared to continental (but it's hard to get decent sausage and bacon outside of the UK anyway!). The pan au chocolat were so delicious I... more

I spent a long weekend in Madrid with seven others, it was initially a football tour: however, this city has much more to offer. We stayed in the Carlton Hotel, although not quite central suited our purpose. It was only 5 Euros in a taxi to the city centre (Wait thats 5 quid now) lol, The hotel was clean and... more

We stayed in this hotel during a 4 day stay in Madrid. The hotel was spotless, well stocked, and within close proximity to the train station. Our standard room was spacious and the bathroom was sizeable. The room had extensive storage space. Noise was not a problem, neither from the street or other rooms. The staff was courteous, prompt, and... more

Stayed at the Carlton for 2 nites in November 08. Took train from Valencia, the Carlton is 2 blocks from the Atocha train station, so it was a short walk(one of the reasons i booked it). We had about two hours before the Reina Sofia(Guernica) closed, so we checked in, which was hassle-free, and ran over there, which was only... more

To be honest all rooms were not brand new but very clean and cosy. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was absolutely... more

My friend and I stayed at the Hotel Carlton for a mini break to Madrid. It was a great location near the Atoca train station. There is a 24 supermarket nearby. The room was spacious with a big bathroom. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. more
