This was our first day in Spain and we could walk to the central plaza from the hotel. It was only a ten minute walk and along the way there were all these fantastic little restaurants to tempt you. The hotel was very modern inside and there was free wifi. We had breakfast there two mornings and there as a... More

We stayed 4 nights at the Vincci Capitol and everything about this hotel surpassed our expectations: The location , service, room, breakfast, and facilities. The Vincci Capitol is about 10-15 walk from the major attractions of Madrid. including major museums. The hotel's team is courteous and ready to help and provide any assistance at any time. The hotel rooms are... More

During one of the business trip to Madrid had a chance to stay at this place. The best part is the location of the property. It is centrally located in proximity to both the metro stations on the east west and north south corridors. Most of the eateries and places of interest are located in a walk-able distance from this... More

Booked a trip to Madrid using air miles and this was our hotel and the best thing by far about the it is its location - pretty much perfect for everything being located on the Gran Via. The hotel itself is very contemporary as are the rooms with a hint of Art Deco. Our room was a little small but... More

During my last trip to Eurpoe I had the privilege to stay at this amazing place and I have to admit it is the best hotel of my trip. The location is at Madrid heart with all the main venues at walking distance and a metro station just a couple of steps away. The staff is very efficient at providing... More

Great hotel. The staff were very helpful. The room was well equipped although boutique style. The beakfast was great. The fresh fruit was wonderful and I could get used to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. They have an outside seating area on the 9th floor which has great views of the Grand Via and an outside bar/ terrace on the... More

We found ourselves at this hotel because a travel agent placed us here and it was a great location. Staff was great and the location was central for so many venues. Totally recommend this hotel. Staff speaks English and the bar has a wonderful view onto the Grand Via. Easy to get cab to airport. Should cost you 30 euros.... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
