We chose this hotel for its great location, close to a Metro, near one of the hop on/off bus stops, not disappointed. Although our room was not huge it was clean, the bed was comfy and the bathroom had a tub and a separate shower plus huge towels. Breakfast was good, something for everyone. The staff were very friendly and... More

Stayed three nights, hotel is modern and room was large as was the bathroom. Location on the Gran Via is convenient to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife, as well as several Metro stops. 7th floor terrace bar is a great place to get a drink and admire the view of Madrid in the evening after the sun has passed behind the... A trendy hotel, very conveniently located in Madrid's downtown. Rooms are, stylish, comfortable and quiet. Wi-Fi is included. Hotel amenities include a terrace bar with a fantastic view, and a very nice restaurant, and a great breakfast buffet. If you are looking to stay in Madrid, definitively one of your best options.

Our Spanish tour group spend its first two nights in the Vincci Capitol Hotel. The hotel was clean and convenient, and offered comfortable rooms. The breakfast was held in an attractive, softly-lit, spacious room and featured all your favorite Madrid breakfast fare. IT is situated right off of Gran Via near historical sites, shopping and transportation. I think it would... More

I may be biased here because we were given a great room on the 9th floor (902) with veranda. The view was amazing and we spent loads of time sunbathing on the sun chairs or enjoying the wine in the evenings. The hotel is centrally located and everything was in walking distance. The metro stop is just a few steps... More

I write this review after one nights stay of a 2 night business trip. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. And that's it! For the price that's charged - you would expect a decent level of 4* service - this is nowhere to be found. Check in was an underwhelming experience - where you are required... More

We chose this place after months of research. Right on Gran Via, 5-8 blocks from major sights (Plaza Mayor, Playa del Sol), and a metro station in front of the hotel. Large rooms with balconies, excellent staff, great amenities. The rooftop terraces were just wonderful, with tons of restaurants and major shopping stores within walking distance. Bar upstairs is very... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
