Our Spanish tour group spend its first two nights in the Vincci Capitol Hotel. The hotel was clean and convenient, and offered comfortable rooms. The breakfast was held in an attractive, softly-lit, spacious room and featured all your favorite Madrid breakfast fare. IT is situated right off of Gran Via near historical sites, shopping and transportation. I think it would... More

Excellent location! Walking distance to al mayor attractions. Stayed for my 40 bday with my wife, we were extremely satisfied with the service and excellent staff. Manager pay attention to small details. Excellent breakfast.

I may be biased here because we were given a great room on the 9th floor (902) with veranda. The view was amazing and we spent loads of time sunbathing on the sun chairs or enjoying the wine in the evenings. The hotel is centrally located and everything was in walking distance. The metro stop is just a few steps... More

I write this review after one nights stay of a 2 night business trip. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. And that's it! For the price that's charged - you would expect a decent level of 4* service - this is nowhere to be found. Check in was an underwhelming experience - where you are required... More

We chose this place after months of research. Right on Gran Via, 5-8 blocks from major sights (Plaza Mayor, Playa del Sol), and a metro station in front of the hotel. Large rooms with balconies, excellent staff, great amenities. The rooftop terraces were just wonderful, with tons of restaurants and major shopping stores within walking distance. Bar upstairs is very... More

We stayed at the Vinnci Capitol for a 4 day break. The hotel is well located in the heart of the centre and offers easy access to whatever you want to see. The entrance is a bit understated and could easily be missed. Similarly taxi drivers were not really aware of it without the address. We stayed in a superior... More

Hotel is out of fashion. It is TRUE that you have smoking smell. Not constantly, the room is clean, but it comes from time to time from other rooms I suppose. Sound insulation isn't the best. Staff speaks broken English.

This was our first day in Spain and we could walk to the central plaza from the hotel. It was only a ten minute walk and along the way there were all these fantastic little restaurants to tempt you. The hotel was very modern inside and there was free wifi. We had breakfast there two mornings and there as a... More

We stayed 4 nights at the Vincci Capitol and everything about this hotel surpassed our expectations: The location , service, room, breakfast, and facilities. The Vincci Capitol is about 10-15 walk from the major attractions of Madrid. including major museums. The hotel's team is courteous and ready to help and provide any assistance at any time. The hotel rooms are... More

Cab €30 from airport flat rate. Bedroom was ok but a little dusty had to ask them to clean it. Like that they had slippers and bathrobes a shame no face towels I like... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
