I was going to give this place 2 stars, but our departure was just so awfull that my last faith in them went with that, we had 1 large suitcase and 2 small ones, so receptionist said that we needed to ask for a van for the airprot transfer, 50 Euro, well not much choice, although we arrived to the... This hotel is located within a 5 minute walk of the nearest metro station on Gran Via, the most central of locations in Madrid. Its approximately an hours journey by the fool proof metro system from the airport. All the main shopping and restaurant areas are within walking distance of this hotel. The hotel itself is modern and absolutely spotless.... More

Hotel was lovely, our room was very spacious and clean. Our room had a great view over the city, it was positioned to the back of the hotel and was very quiet. Staff at reception were helpful and friendly. My only down side is that the roof terrace is out of commission at present and is not likely to be... More

The reception was very welcoming; reception staff were very helpful, making reservation for the taxis, the flamenco shows, the Toledo trip, etc. The location is also very convenient and try not to have a room overseeing Gran Via as noise would be there till mid night. Overall I would recommend this hotel especially for the well behaving staff.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here from the 29th of March to the 2nd of April and had a lovely stay. Fully recommend opting for the room with breakfast, a very reasonable spread with lots of choice, constantly topped up, and fresh. All the staff we encountered were lovely, particularly the man who headed the breakfast, by the second day... More

We spent 3 nights over a weekend in this hotel. Breakfast is good, rooms are quiet and nice (if you take a superior room). The hotel is perfectly located, next to shops, restaurants, bars an the cosy district Chueca. What we were missing at the hotel was a bar. Anyway, we recommend this hotel any time.

We arrived at the hotel around 8pm to be greeted by a queue at check in. We waited, and we waited. Initially there were two staff checking people in then one disappeared to the computer around the corner, not to leave it again. Eventually after some 25 minutes, it was out turn to check in...but hang on...the only person left... More

This was my first visit to Madrid traveling a on my own so a central location was required. The Tryp Madrid Cibeles Hotel was perfect in this regard being located on the Grand Via. There was no lack of opportunity for shopping and the "Red Light" district was close by and very visible for those so inclined but was not... More

The Trypp Cibeles is in a great location on the main shopping street in Madrid, easy to locate from the Metro station so made for a fairly simple transfer from the airport (If you discount negotiating the stairs with cases). We checked into our room early and were offered an upgraded room for just €40 for the 4 nights -... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
