Wonderful hotel on the Grand Via right in the Centre of Madrid. Very convenient to main shopping areas and all key sights. In the surrounding area are literally dozens of small bars , tapas bars and restaurants to graze at. This is real Spanish capital, not a tourist trap and the food is brilliant and cheap From the booking stage... More

We stayed at Hotel Atlantico for the first 3 nights of our Madrid/Paris vacation. We chose this based on the excellent reviews and a friend's recommendation. Overall, the hotel was fine, but I am absolutely shocked it is rated as a top 10 hotel in a city such as Madrid. The only memorable part was how clean it was which... More

Stay here for three nights while in Madrid, hotel is right in the middle of everything, walking distance to many shops restaurants and hop on hop off madrid city tour bus. While in madrid make sure to get over to Puerto Del Sol Square, lots of interesting people, and don't miss Museo del Jamon, what a place, for .90 eu... More

Everything clean and room sizeable. Lobby was a little small and they were undergoing renovation during our stay. Not a problem, but unfortunately that ment the outside bar was closed. Again, not their fault! Nothing negative to say about our stay. Perfect location right in the city center, helpfull staff and fantastic beads. Do recommend!

Suspected that gran via was the equivalent of Oxford street. Flanked by primark mango, Zara, 2 McDonald's, 2 Burger King, a kfc. Having said that the rooms were a spacious, clean, good toiletries, helpful concierge and always a smile.mthe breakfast was good to start with and then deteriorated over hitherto days- I suspect leftover food was used the next day!... This hotel is lovely. We were picked up by the free shuttle service they provide. The driver was friendly and it took around 20 minutes to get to the hotel. This service is specific times. They charge 8 euros to take you back which is reasonable. We were greeted by friendly staff and they upgraded us to a superior room.... More

Small reception, small lifts relect the age of the building. Work to exterior on going which slightly spoiled view and some work starts each day at 9am, save sunday. Dissappointing we could not use roof terrace. Superior rooms 704 -we had two small double beds. Two hair dryers. Ironing board and iron. No dvd player even to borrow. Mini fridge-... More

Such a friendly, service oriented hotel with gorgeous decor at such a reasonable price. As other reviewers state, the locale can't be beat. Walk to all those tapas places you've read about as well as the shops. Lovely breakfast, sweet front desk staff who acted as interpreters when we made restaurant reservations. My husband and I stayed here for almost... More

The Atlantico is in an early 20th century building of the Spanish wish-that-we-were-imperial style which is being carefully restored. At the moment ( April 2015) it is covered in scaffolding. But don't let that put you off. It is an excellent place to stay from all points of view: central, extremely well managed, free wifi, effective but not noisy air-conditioning,... More

If you're coming in April 2015, just be aware that the hotel facade is being renovated, so construction noise begins around 9 am from Monday to Friday but they stop in the evening. The hotel is right in the city center, very well located to go to quite a few attractions by foot. The service was great and the rooms... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
