First of all, it was hard to find the hostel as there is no major signage outside. The hostel is just one apartment in a building block with another hostel on the same floor. You just have to look for building number 5 and there is a small sign saying Hostel Estrella is on the second floor. The lobby does... More

A/C was switched off at night so I had to open window. Couldn't sleep however as the street was noisy. Walls were so thin you could hear conversations from all over. Shower was not working. I complained the next day but the staff couldn't speak English so I had to endure 4 sleepless nights. Location is near gran via but... More

This is a great location , the place is really cute and nice , but the staff is nonexistent which explains the state of my room. When I checked in there was a guy yelling at me to hurry up and come in, so he can check my info in the "reception" area -- also known as a kitchen with... More

The hostal is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the center and there is a good variety of bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood, including an excellent Chinese restaurant on the corner. The lady in charge is very nice and helpful and the hostal is very clean and we found it to be very quiet. The... More

Considering the price of this hotel it’s not too bad. The location is great (note that the location of the hotel at the TripAdvisor Madrid app is wrong), the air condition works (a must in Madrid) and the staff was nice but did not speak many words of English. The room is good if you are only looking for a... More

Very close from the center, is a flat where the owners rent a room with a really small toilet. Is really cheap and clean. Just for spend a weekend and less time as possible in your room.

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
