Great apartment, with a a great location. I have stayed there three times, and enjoyed it. Had a kitchen with all the appliances and the staff were very professional. Close to shopping stores and and lots of restaurants.

The apartments were basic, with a stove, microwave and basic kitchen appliances. It was clean when we arrived, however the cleaners were not very attentive and we did not receive clean towels during our stay, our bins were also not emptied regularly. We were there for 5 days. However for the price, it was very reasonable and a very good... More

This has to be one of the worst places to stay. The room was spotlessly clean and the sheet/towel change was the only good thing I could say about this place. The advertised wifi went 'down' every evening, the advertised Air conditioning wasn't controlled by us, the noise of numerous parties went on all night, every night. No water at... More

I always prefer to stay at a self-catering aparment when travelling. The location is awsome, just a minute walk from Sol station and also lovely san miguel market. Price is amazingly cheap for what I've got. I got a large, quiet, and clean studio room with a private kitchen including everything you need for cooking, fridge, microwave, and also a... More

We spent one night as a family here. Great location - 100 yds from Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía. Very clean apt, nice air conditioning. Couple of caveats... 1) no good parking on the cheap. There's parking close but it'll set you back 25€ per night, 2) when you book, ask what floor. We ended up on 5th floor... More

We stayed at the Arenal Apartments for 4 nights , early June 2015. We had a junior suite apartment with 3 beds. The place was very clean and well maintained. The noise coming from the street was not a problem, and not even the fact that we had the room at the 4th floor of an 18centrury, no elevator building,... More

We were really impressed with the location, extremely close to all the main attractions and we were able to walk to see everything. The apartment was clean and concise with a little kitchenette and we opted for the private bathroom. This was perfect as all we really wanted was a base where we could sleep and keep our bags. The... I read people reviews and I realize this is not an apartment but you ll get a room inside an apartment so this is a private room with shared bathroom and shared kitchen but the property is advertising it as an apartment and many people who booked and arrived in the location got disappointed. Regardless many complaints, the property still... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
