We stayed late June in a double room and it found it more than hospitable. Maria, the reception lady was lovely and very helpful, she was also responsible for the impeccably clean rooms. We had fresh linen everyday and the room was light and airy. The air con was a life saver in the 40° heat, would recommend using this... More

Had booked a room for 4 nights, but had to leave after the first one. Didn't sleep at all due to traffic noise. Yes, I had earplugs. The road changes from tarmac to stone just outside the window which makes every single car to make a noise. Had to pay for 2 nights, because the books were closed, but I... More

My husband and I stayed at the THC Latina Hostel in Madrid recently, and, in general, we had a wonderful stay. The central location made it easy to get anywhere in Madrid, usually within a short walking distance. The room was kept impeccably clean and we received free linens on a daily basis. Maria, who cleaned our room daily and... More

Stayed here on a city break for 3 nights. Fantastic find and has totally changed my mind about staying at hostels. Rooms are small (expected in a city) but spotlessly clean. As for some reviews saying the curtains are thin, if you just take the time to open door out to balcony then you will find that the window has... More

I was there for two nights in December 2013. What I like about this hostel: 1. Great location - walking distance to everything. 2. Maria (the lady at the reception) is really friendly and helpful! Thanks :) 3. Clean and modern, which was what drawn me to this hostel when I booked. What I don't fancy about the hostel: 1.... More

Being a bit broken this month I needed something good at good price. 39 euros seemed to me another shabby hostel in the old "cockney" part of Madrid. After getting to a bit dissappointing entrance, the first floor was a stunning love at first sight. The hostel has just 10 rooms in a boutique hostel concept. Everything is spotless, clean... More

We found this hostel through TripAdvisor and just as those before us said, this hostel offers the best value for money for any budget minded traveller. It locates three blocks south of La Latina metro station and is minutes walk from the surrounding sightseeing places. It is situated in a very multicultural neighbourhood, though it gives the impression unsafe, it... More

I visited Madrid for the first in August last year (the oldest date the system accepts it's October 2012!), and when I was looking for a place to stay I didn't really want to spend too much. The THC Latina had a very reasonable price and good location so I decided to give it a try. I have been to... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
