The hotel is centrally located within easy walking of most sites. Receptionist was very courteous and spoke English. Our room was small but well appointed and comfortable. A small elevator lifts you to the fourth floor. A continental breakfast is served at a nearby restaurant.

Wonderful place in the city center. It offers the possibility to visit all the main attractions on foot. The room are very well decorated: bed and pillows top quality. The bathroom is a bit small, but hey you are not leaving there when you're in Madrid ;-) Both bedroom and bathroom are very well cleaned. The receptionists are very friendly and... More

My wife and 2 kids, age 14 and 12, stayed here while traveling in Spain. The hostel is located near the center of the old city. It was a perfect location. We were a short walk from Plaza Major and other major attractions in Madrid. The folks at the hostel were very friendly and helpful in answering our questions about... More

Perfect location near Gran Via and Puertas del Sol. Metro stations at a short walk and many Tapas Bars nearby. Clean and comfortable. Great relation on price/quality, considering the central location it's very affordable. Very friendly staff. Next time in Madrid i'll stay here again.

The hostal is in an ideal location very close to centre and within a 2 minute walk of 2 Metro stations. The price considering location is amazing too. Staff are friendly and helpful and they offer a small bottle of sparkling wine on arrival which is a nice touch. The hotel is on the 5th floor of a building in... More

What a wonderful place to stay, we were here for 2 nights. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful, giving us a map showing us the historic sites, and recommended Tapas Bars and Tapas Bar areas. The Hostal is immaculately clean with wonderful bright decor. Our room was one of the smaller ones , we knew that when we... More

This is a true spot to stay; both as first-timer and more experienced visitor in Madrid. Is it possible to find a more in-the-middle-of-everything hotel or hostal in Madrid for such a value? Don't think so. . Plaza Mayor, Gran Via, Parco Retiro, Salamanca, museums Reina Sofia and Prado, La Latina.. . . youre in the middle of this. Ok,... More

Given its cheap prices, excellent location and extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff, this low-cost, no-frills place gives you an amazing value. We arrived early in the morning and were gritted with breakfast coupons to a café just across the street, a small bottle of brut, chocolates and the ability to leave our luggage at the reception so we could start... We stayed in Hostal Madrid in Sol area for 3 night. It is very convenient to walk to Plaza mayor shopping street and attraction area. Easy to get a metro and bus. Reasonable price and friendly staff. WiFi is free but not good in connection. We recommend for the short stay if you come to Madrid. .

Nice room, just like the picture very clean and tidy; great location, a 2m walk from Puerta del Sol, has 3 metro stations nearby, 50 meters away of Gran Via and many many shops; very nice staff, very friendly and helpfull.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
