Location is excellent, staff too (but they don't speak English). Hotel is small, cheap, old but clean. Rooms are very small but fine. We had shared bathroom that was old but clean. I recommend this place for all budget travelers.

It might need a total renovation but the fact that you get a private bathroom in such a great location, right in the middle of Madrid, for such little money is great. It's a place to sleep and shower, which is everything we needed during our short stay in Madrid.

The hostal is not clean at all, all the facilities are very ran down. We couldn't find plugs in the room. And the WORST thing was that the room (and sheets) smelled of cigarettes and were absolutely disgusting! The hostal is located in a very central place, but is just not worth it.

This is a rahter typical Madrid hostal - located at a 4th floor of a big traditional city centre house, it seems a once huge apartment, now artificially divided into small rooms with a common bathroom. The rooms are very loud (you hear everything from the common hallway), and they are sparcely equipped - just a bed, a small table,... More

25 euros for a couple in a two bed room with an attached bathroom. I'm giving it 5 stars, taking into consideration the price I paid. The regular price was 35 euros for a room with a shared bathroom. We reserved online a 25 euros special (10 euros discount). We got there a bit late. The room we had reserved... More

It's actually quite a nice experience...when we first came..we thought ..oh no! Elevator is hot, there's some air vent of hot air coming out from there..so we thought that it's gonna be a disaster..but no..we arrive in this hotel quite OK..the owner is really friendly and accommodating..of course you won't expect like nice room or something but for your first... Location can't be better, just a few steps from Gran Via metro station. The owner Jose is very polite and helpful, and always with a friendly smile. In addition, room and bathroom are clean and the price is the best I have seen. I definitely recommend and will stay there again when I am back to Madrid. Don't forget it... More

We had a very nice 5 nights stay at casa bueno it was very local to all amenities, very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned every day and on our last day we could leave our luggage until it was time to get our train back home.

Very very convenient location. Trough out the 4 days the Fuencarral street was the artery for each of our adventures. Lots of shopping spots, cafes, local bars. The Hostal Casa Bueno is in the top floor, so you will see the best of the street. The room, linen and the towels were clean. Nothing too luxurious about the premises, except... More

Economic place in the main shopping street next to Gran Via metro. Still little or no noise from the busy street, but some from the nearest rooms and the hallway. Small rooms and small bathrooms, but clean. No luxury, more a basic place.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
