Very very convenient location. Trough out the 4 days the Fuencarral street was the artery for each of our adventures. Lots of shopping spots, cafes, local bars. The Hostal Casa Bueno is in the top floor, so you will see the best of the street. The room, linen and the towels were clean. Nothing too luxurious about the premises, except... More

Economic place in the main shopping street next to Gran Via metro. Still little or no noise from the busy street, but some from the nearest rooms and the hallway. Small rooms and small bathrooms, but clean. No luxury, more a basic place.

Stayed here one night during a layover in Madrid. The location could not be better, on a pedestrian shopping street lots to see and do close by, easy access from metro. Is clean and at a good price, but wouldn't go here for a longer stay. Very dated and lacks that "hostel" feel

I had never stayed in a hostel before so did not really know what to expect. But I have nothing bad to say about Hostal Casa Bueno. José is a genuinely friendly proprietor who has been very helpful in settling me into Madrid whilst visiting here over Christmas, he says he has limited English but he understands requests for advice... We stayed at Pension Bueno for 4 nights. Hot water and wifi were very consistent, which is always a plus. Location is great as we walked to all the major sights. From the airport, you can take the metro to Neuvos Ministeres and transfer to Tribunal. From Tribunal the Pension is just a 10 minute walk down the pedestrian only... More

Australian couple traveling, Madrid is our first stop. Hostal Casa Bueno is very centrally located. It's only a couple of hundred meters walk from Gran Via metro station. We caught the train here from Madrid airport. You're right in the heart of everything. Shops, bars, restaurants are right on your front doorstep. Room is small but clean and comfortable. It's... The location is good - walking distance to the city center. The hosts are very friendly. they maybe lack some English, but do everything to make you feel well as their guest. It was a bit noisy, but the noise was not from the street, but other guests. Rooms are really small, but clean. If you just want some place... More

A place with small and simple rooms. Clean and very economic. Allows you to spend the money on food and other amenities. Tip: The Café Austrica is just around the corner and a great place for breakfast.

We stayed at Casa Bueno based on good TripAdvisor reviews and found it to be just as described in the reviews: an excellent value in an excellent location. You are a two minute walk to the Gran Via metro station and five minutes from the Plaza Puerto del Sol. Most of what you are in Madrid to see is within... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
