From check in to leaving the Catalonia plaza mayor we had a fantastic stay at this hotel, Javier on reception was friendly and helpful, a real credit to this hotel. The room was clean and spacious, the hotel itself was in a central location, easy to get around using the metro but also some lovely bars and restaurants within easy... More

Our first visit to Madrid and first time in the Catalunia Hotel Chain. Very nice room with view on Atocha. Good sound insulation, spacious rooms, nice bathroom. Great inside tips from the bartender ! Perfect for us!

This is probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in, in a really long time. We were greeted by a very attentive staff and we were able to check in a few hours early which was great. We were given tickets to have a welcome drink as we checked in. We stayed in a superior room and it... More

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I can't really fault it. Pleasant and efficient check in, contemporary tidy rooms and right in the heart of Madrid. Breakfast was excellent and they even helped me park the car . Note though, I found Madrid a difficult place to negotiate and drive in. Will use this... More

Fantastic location, very centric, next door to Plaza Santa Ana, a landmark for tapas and drinks al fresco. Hotel is modern, they offer rooms a la carte, with possibility of configuring your needs (views, room size,...). Very friendly staff. It was a discovery for me of Catalonia hotels, a hotel chain with hotels in many locations in Spain but also... More

Easy walk to Prado, Reina Sofia and Plaza Mayor. Breakfast [not included] was excellent. 6th Floor suites are comfortable and spacious, but bottom of window sill is at 6-foot, so no view -- though not much to see.

Stayed here for 4 days and what a fantastic break it was. Looked at trip advisor for other peoples comments and thought this hotel sounded fab. We were not disappointed. The hotel is situated on a main road but as long as the doors and windows are shut you cannot hear a thing. A few minutes walk from the hotel... More

Right in the middle of Madrid's shopping district. The room was huge and bed was comfortable. They had a nice breakfast spread. Hotel staff were accommodating and helpful. Metro station is a few steps away from the hotel.

We wanted something central and not too expensive, and this hotel was perfect. Location wise, you couldn't ask for better. Even though it's situated on a busy road, the rooms really are sound proof. For a 4 star hotel, I was really impressed by the breakfast, good choice and local specialities available, other hotels could learn a lot from hotel... More

I enjoyed spending a night here. The location is very nice - in the middle of the centre and it is also very reasonably priced. Though in the centre, I had a great night sleep; the rooms are well isolated and the bed was very comfy. Next time I am in Madrid I'd gladly come back.

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
