The hotel has immense potential. Good location, clean, great breakfast but oh the surly receptionists and barman. Smile ... It works. Especially on weary travelers. On the plus side the breakfast staff are friendly and helpful. Also there's a good steakhouse down the road and a lovely sushi place around the corner.

We just got back from an eight night stay at this hotel. The location is close to transportation and is easy to walk to Old Madrid and other important sights. It is a great place to stay in a more residential area away from the typical touristy places, and makes it possible to really discover the true Madrid. The rooms... More

With a superb location and excellent value for money this luxury hotel is a haven in the heart of Madrid . The rooms are large and very comfortable and classy. The service is faultless and all the staff very helpful. It is well worth paying for the breakfast as the choice is incredible and the food quality as good as... More

This hotel is difficult to find since it is not facing the main street. Once you find the park, you must go through it to find the hotel in the middle of a square. Room was nice (small), offering more old charm style than modern as most others I stayed in. Once again, staff behind the desk were uninterested in... More

Stayed 2 nights. Easy to get from airport- San Bernado metro is 100 m away or 30 Euro taxi( taxis have fixed fare). Appealing foyer, plenty of taxis outside all the time, opposite a small park. Restaurant had simple menu but quiet and not too dear for snacks on arrival. Superb breakfast- good coffee and fresh OJ. We had twin... More

The Conde Duque hotel is in a less touristy area than in the centre, and that has its own advantages. We stayed there for three nights at the beginning of our trip to Spain, and stayed in the centre of Madrid at the end of our trip. Each has its own advantages. Although it's out of the centre, Conde Duque... More

We stayed at this hotel as part of a Globus Iberian Vacation. We booked an extra pre night on our own through the hotel website and the hotel staff was very accommodating in making sure we remained in the same room all three nights. The hotel is definitely located out of the area of the main attractions but does have... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
