We have had some fine days in this hotel. One of the best breakfast I have had for some years. Good service and clean room. As a conferece guest I feel very well taken care of. Thank you all of the staff.

The rooms were awfully small and we had the upgraded room. But the balcony overlooking the city was very nice and thank God because the room was so hot we had to have the balcony door open the whole time. The staff was not friendly but not rude either - the lady in the front desk looked like she would... More

This was my first time to Madrid and the hotel was in a great location for everything, right across the street from the park, .25 miles from the train station and a short walk to the city center for the true experience of Madrid. The staff was also very helpful and friendly.

The hotel is very conveniently located if you need to travel from Atocha station, or if you want to see Guernica at the Reina Sophia Museum, or if you like to jog in the Retiro park in the morning. Prices are reasonable, and rooms are good. Breakfast is better than in many Madrid hotels with the same rating, but free... More

The impressive facade on the outside belies the basic hotel on the inside. I had a top floor room which was very quiet, but also very small with not enough room to open my suitcase except on the bed. The restaurant offered a limited choice but the food was OK. The location was handy for a number of city attractions... More

It is the first week of April and the hotel is still saving money by not turning on the air conditioning. 24 degrees outside and about the same in the room. The traffic noise is horrendous and gets worse if the window is open. I will be making a point of avoiding NH Hotels and will advise my friends, including... More

This hotel is at the intersection of three of the busiest avenues in Madrid. The rooms are very noisy because of the heavy, heavy traffic 24 hours per day. The multi pane windows help, but do not eliminate the noise. The night we were there the air conditioning was out for the entire hotel. The only way the temperature on... More

The hotel was recently remodeled however we weren't sure what they were thinking when it came to the bathroom. There was a big heavy pocket door which made a racket when you closed/opened it. The shower required a lot of attention to make sure it didn't flood the room. Get a room on the interior or on the top floors... More

I made a reservation through Hotels.com for the NH Atocha in Madrid. But, surprise...when my wife and I arrived there, the hotel was closed for renovation. So I called another NH hotel, the Madrid Nacional, a very close hotel, and somebody told us that we were booked there. We had to walk carrying our luggage about 100 yards. After that... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
