The hotel was recently remodeled however we weren't sure what they were thinking when it came to the bathroom. There was a big heavy pocket door which made a racket when you closed/opened it. The shower required a lot of attention to make sure it didn't flood the room. Get a room on the interior or on the top floors... More

Close tomAtocha train station so if you need to leave on plane or train its good, the fron desk staff is a bit overwhelmed as there are tour groups that stay here. The rooms are very comfortable and QUIET although some give on interior courtyard there is no noise heard from the other rooms.close to queen Sofia museum and to... More

I made a reservation through Hotels.com for the NH Atocha in Madrid. But, surprise...when my wife and I arrived there, the hotel was closed for renovation. So I called another NH hotel, the Madrid Nacional, a very close hotel, and somebody told us that we were booked there. We had to walk carrying our luggage about 100 yards. After that... More

Excellent location two blocks from Atocha station in a restored 19th century building. All modern hotel rooms, medium sized rooms, nice amenities and a large bathroom. Stayed here 3 nights total. Definitely a four star hotel. Location is excellent, staff is efficient but not overly involved.

Stayed here on several occasions as a business traveller. the hotel is in an excellent location virtually next door to the Atocha railway station and many city attractions are within walking distance, galleries, museums etc. The hotel is very clean, nice comfortable rooms and the staff are quite freindly. Apart from breakfast I have not eaten at the hotel but... More

I really liked the location. All the big museums are close, so is Puerta del Sol, Plaza Santa Ana, the train station, the tube station, you name it.... Internet was free of charge and worked fine. A free printer for your boarding passes would be great. Staff was friendly and helpful. The lounge with its bar has a very welcoming... More

Excellently positioned, near Atocha Renfe mainline station, Atocha Metro station and the Airport Express bus terminal. Five minutes walk to the Reina Sofia gallery, ten minutes to the Museo del Prado and fifteen to the Thyssen gallery, so great for culture vultures. Some tapas bars close by, but these seemed to be attuned to tourists. If you want something more... More

Great location next to tour bus stop, restaurants and cafes`, museum and train station. Friendly & prompt service at the front desk, at the restaurant and for room service. Great room with a beautiful view, was worth the upgrade to superior room with a view to the main road and train station. It gave me the pleasure to spend time... More

The NH Nacional is right in the center of the vital museums of Madrid. It is across the street from the Antioch train station, one of the biggest train stations in Madrid. I was able to wheel my luggage across the station, across the street and to the hotel with ease. The hotel is well kept, clean, and the staff... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
