Excellently positioned, near Atocha Renfe mainline station, Atocha Metro station and the Airport Express bus terminal. Five minutes walk to the Reina Sofia gallery, ten minutes to the Museo del Prado and fifteen to the Thyssen gallery, so great for culture vultures. Some tapas bars close by, but these seemed to be attuned to tourists. If you want something more... More

Great location next to tour bus stop, restaurants and cafes`, museum and train station. Friendly & prompt service at the front desk, at the restaurant and for room service. Great room with a beautiful view, was worth the upgrade to superior room with a view to the main road and train station. It gave me the pleasure to spend time... More

The NH Nacional is right in the center of the vital museums of Madrid. It is across the street from the Antioch train station, one of the biggest train stations in Madrid. I was able to wheel my luggage across the station, across the street and to the hotel with ease. The hotel is well kept, clean, and the staff... More

The location of the NH Nacional is great, walking distance to the major museums, metro station around the corner and many authentic (Tapas) bars in the vicinity. The rooms however are a let down, as we had one with windows on an atrium, so no direct (sun)light. Granted Madrid is a town where you have to spend your time outside,... More

We stayed in 5 different hotels across Spain (normally pick the 3 or 4 star hotels). This was the most expensive but the worst of the lot. We probably got the worst room in the hotel. Right near the lift and could hear people coming in and out. Small windows facing air conditioning and 2 metres across the next rooms... More

In 2013 my daughter stayed here, so in 2014 my son went, this 2015 I am planning to get there with my Mom. As Konrad Hilton said: it is all about location, location, location. Besides staff was friendly, rooms clean and everything simply fulfilling the nh brand standards. Food comments were not too favorable, but lived up to expectations to... More

The hotel is nicely situated, near the train station and walking distance to attractions in town like the Prado Museum, lots od tapas and cafes, as well to the Plaza del Sol and shops. It is a good option to stay for a short trip and enjoy the city!

Ideal location - upgrade to one of the suites on 7th floor, our room 711 with balcony has a pleasant view. Ask to see room before hand, as you will most likely upgrade because rooms and beds are not big enough!

Very good hotel location, near Prado, directly at subway station. Great for all city tour. Very good NH standard - friendly, not too formal and helpful service, excellent breakfast selection with lot of tasty local and international food and drinks. Modern design, free WiFi, perfect view from our room.

Situated in a prime location, within walking distance of the main train station and most attractions in the city. It has a bus stop right near the doorstep which takes you almost the entire length of the city. Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
