Former Marriott Courtyard hotel, now possibly locally run but not maintained to the Marriott standard. Hotel decor & room size fairly decent. Yet facilities like pool, gym and sauna impractical for family use. ALSO, NO WORKING WIFI! Breakfast cutlery wasn't clean which put us off from visiting after our first meal despite having paid for it in advance. Food quality... More

Ok, first the positive: Not a bad location and there is a kettle with coffee/tea facilities, and fridge. The room was big and there is a TV. But no indication of what TV channels. No indication of ANY hotel services (meals, restaurants, bars, if any.) Nobody ever answers the phone when you ring the operator. EVER! No pen, no paper,... More

Booked into this hotel for one night in July. Located near Arguelles Metro Station, so can be easily reached from the Airport. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Had to change rooms initially, as air-con was not working, but this was quickly sorted by Reception and we were moved to another room. Large, very comfortable bed, along with black-out... More

Booking made through agent was incorrect though resolved by dedicated staff on arrival. It was apparent from the outset that reception was under staffed, particularly given there was NO WIFI which increased demand. This resulted in being locked out of the the room a few times. Other guests had the same problem. Room was spacious and clean but in need... More

Within a short stroll of the Gran Via and close to a Metro station [Arguelles], the location is good – easy access to all the central attractions but quiet at night time. It is next to a huge El Corte Ingles dept store. Breakfast wasn’t included in our package and we decided to go to the Compostela across the road.... More

We check in early. No problem they say give us an hour your room will be ready. No need to set an early time. We come back 3 hrs later no room. It's now 2pm. After waiting at the checkin for 15 min they find us a room ..... I ask for the wifi code they tell me here it... More

We stayed at this hotel last year. The hotel is large and the staff was nice enough. The hotel was just ok but we got a great rate so we thought it was a decent value. It is very close to a lot of attractions and the metro is literally around the corner. El Cortes Ingles is on the same... More

Stayed here just before Christmas last year (Dec 2014) while the hotel was in the throes of being renovated, for which the staff apologised. Our room was one of the newly renovated ones, overlooking Calle Princesa. It was lavishly furnished with a very comfortable super-king bed and 37" TV. The bathroom was also spacious with a shower-bath with excellent pressure.... More

This hotel is what you would expect of a four star hotel in Europe. It is clean. The decoration is a little outdated and the AC needs to cool a little better, but it is being renovated from the first floor up. The staff is friendly and attentive. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is next... More

Upon check-in "hospitality" staff were rude and unhelpful. No internet connection available and the room was not particularly clean. In room amenities soap, shampoo, etc was inadequate for a double. Meals were acceptable but service was slow at dinner time and undercooked. Breakfast buffet was OK but the Maitre'd was also rude. Overall this was the poorest of 7 different... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
