I booked this location for three nights (double bedroom) because they had a good deal on booking.com. The location really can't be beat. I took the airport bus to Plaza de Cibeles and it was only a short walk from there. Fortunately, I had read the reviews on tripadvisor and knew to look for the Hostal Oporto sign, as there... More

We took a quadruple room as we were 2 couples. This is located right about this vegetarian restaurant called Al Natural Vegetariano. The only signboard you can see is of Hostel Oporto. This BnB is on the second floor of the building and you could easily miss it without this piece of information. Pros : Affordable, centre of the city... More

The hostal is situated smack in the heart of Madrid. A little tricky to find, but once found, a little gem. Size of the room was plenty for what we needed. The bathroom was tiny, but hey, you're only in there to shower/wash and use the loo. The walls are a little thin, so heard a lot of high heels... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
