This is a really nice hotel in a perfect location. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The rooms are a bit basic but they have everything you need and although it was in a popular area, the hotel was quite quiet. Breakfasts were really good and you could fill up for the rest of the day!

Lots of value in this little place. Perfect location walk to plaza mayor plaza Santana...2 mins walk to sol. Clean rooms very helpful staff. Rooms are small and walls are thin but clean. Pillows are a little flat but nothing 2euro to the maid can't fix. My wife and I will be back to madrid in the next year and... More

I booked a double, single-use room here on a recommendation from a friend. It's centrally located, about 800 meters from the main train station, a bit over from Calle Atocha in Plaza del Angel, and easily identified by its bright blue awnings adorned with the hotel's logo. During my stay, all the staff was very helpful and courteous, particularly those... More

Very good hostal. Great staff. Clean room with a good bathroom. Good breakfast (you can eat cheaper near if you want, but the breakfast of the hostal is ok). Very close (walking distance) to the main hotsposts in Madrid. Great cost/benefit ratio. I recommend.

Had the pleasure of a short break before we flew down to Malaga, booked this hotel as it seemed close to the city centre, which it is, a pleasant quaint quiet hostel, with excellent staff who all speak fluent English, helpful and generous in their advice and help. The hotel it must be said is a little dated in decor... More

Had a 3 night stay here. Staff was very helpful. Hotel was clean and centrally located to the biggest draws in Madrid. Several cafes nearby with terrific eats. Plenty of souvenir shops and a easy 5 minute walk to Plaza Mayor.

The hiatal Persal is more like a hotel, with private rooms, and amenities of a mid star hotel, Location is fabulous- a short walk fro plaza de Sol, and walking distance to many attractions. Rooms are on the small side, but and if you planning on staying on your room it may be an issue. There are numerous restaurants and... More

We stayed here when we were in Madrid for a girly weekend away. We didn't need to use any kind of transport as we were right in the middle of the centre. The room was basic but clean. The staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was very good-cheese, ham, bread rolls, croissants, jam , cereals and coffee, tea , juice... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
