Convenient location to Gran Via and Sol metro stations. Clean basic rooms, well serviced every day. Breakfasts very good although the layout of the breakfast room needs changed. More staff also required at breakfast. Two male waiters work very hard but location of the one tea/coffee machine creates a 'traffic jam' with the long queue at it. Not enough tables... More

Nice clean hotel. Friendly staff. Small breakfast room offering juices, coffees, rice, yoghurts, different hams, breads, toaster, buns and so on. Not that much vegetables, but some fresh fruits. BF cost ~14€ but if you reserve it with check in you get -40 % discount. 2 unique strange shaped elevators (for 3 and 8 persons so used to use stairs.)... More

Convenient location two blocks from Metro Gran Via or walk from Metro Sol in less than 10 minutes. Helpful staff & small but nicely renovated room with shower by inner courtyard. Large second floor lounge with additional charge breakfast area, Spanish & English newspapers & free internet access. I've stayed there six times & would stay there again.

Stayed for a city break with my husband and two year old daughter. The hotel was a good location and offered a basic level of comfort. It's a serviceable place to stay, but not a memorable experience or somewhere I would especially seek out for its own sake. On the other hand, I wouldn't actively avoid it either! The hotel... More

My Family and I booked three rooms in this hotel for 3 nights (April 29 - May 2,2015). PROS: - Location: It has an excellent location. All the main monuments are within walking distance. CONS: - The Air coniditioner was not working. The rooms we had backed on to other rooms so even when you opened the windows, you wouldnt... More

A last minute booking. Perfect location. Quiet. Staff speaks excellent English. Very helpful service. The signage to the hotel is easily visible from the Gran Via but the entrance is through a simple doorway on the side street. You register and then take the elevator upstairs.

The hotel very central. We choose this hotel as we where taking part in madrids half/full marathon. We where almost an hour checking in - fault with booking - not the hotels fault in anyway meant there wasn't enought rooms for us all. Breakfast was always cold - good, fresh & plentiful. Rooms varied from small to v spacious which... More

In the city centre, easy to reach by Metro from the airport, lovely bar and restaurant, rooms tidy but a bit noisy from showers from the next room, the TV could do with being upgraded to a more modern one and some better channels. The bed was brilliant and comfortable, the hotel has a unique elevator, one you never see... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
