First of all, location wise you can't get much better than this place. It is on a small street right on Gran Via. You exit the hotel and the Gran Via is right there in front of you. The Gran Via metro is also just round the corner, a one minute walk away. Being right on the Gran Via for... More

Hotel Arosa is located within easy walking of sites, restaurants, and shopping. Clean and quiet, very good breakfast. Comfortable beds for the travel weary! Front desk is helpful with directions and providing speedy cabs. We stayed a total of 4 nights coming and going through Madrid.

Nice location, near "Gran Via" metro station. You can walk easily to main attractions in downtown Madrid. Staff is really helpful, especially Mr Rafael Bejarano, he explained us where to go and how to get there. Room was always clean and even if it was street facing, there was no noise at all! Breakfast buffet is plenty of choices, tasty... More

The hotel location is second to none even if it is dated. Rooms are clean but dated and you can hear the guest in the adjoining rooms so not soundproofed. The breakfast was good and set you up for the day. We asked for views and were given a side view on to the Gran Via so a little disappointed... More

Older style hotel, small lobby and very small lifts, one of the lifts was a strange shape, would hold no more than 4 people and would be very cosy. Not sure how you would go with a lot of luggage. Often full when in peak times going down. We used the stairs on quite a few occasions to go down... More

Location is great, room was clean and staff are very accommodating. The only negative was that the walls are REALLY thin. You can literally hear everything in the rooms either side of you. You can hear conversations word for word. Pretty annoying when your trying to sleep. Maybe not all the rooms are like that (we stayed on the 3rd... More

Pros: -Good location -Clean (but the corridor carpet is filthy) Cons: -Extremely old fashioned and basic -Unfriendly reception staff -Only one plug free in the whole bedroom -Old TV with one English Channel that rarely worked (spoke to staff to try and solve this, took 2 days) -Cleaning staff didn't turn over room until 4pm which was highly inconvenient -Breakfast... The location is unbeatable it's close to shopping and a lots of restaurants on the street but the room is quite old-fashioned. Moreover, the elevator is so small we couldn't even fit in with 2 luggages and 2 people.

Stayed here in October 2015. The hotel is in an ideal location for a visit to Madrid. Located close to Gran Via Metro station and a short walk to Callao Metro. The hotel is located just off Gran Via itself in close proximity to a whole host of shops, cafes and restaurants. The hotel itself is what you'd expect given... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
