Very good location close to Metro station "Gran Via" and shopping area. Easy to get around in the city form here. Small rooms but everything works as suppose to, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel in general was a little worn out so maybe more like 3 star hotel instead of 4. Staff are nice and helpful. Breakfast was... More

It is the location of the hotel that makes it a stand out. The decoration and décor are OK but could do with refreshing here and there. The rooms are well appointed and the beds comfortable. The staff are helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel for its general amenities and location

...while the location is very good, this hotel is not four star. Rooms are clean, staff more than pleasant but the hotel is worn and dated. Breakfast not a good value. Good location, so if that's your priority perfect. For us, our first time in Madrid, we would go to a more quiet neighborhood next time.

Pros: Nice location in an alleyway of Gran Via. You have to know where the hotel is or you will miss the entrance. Staff are nice and helpful. Good for short stay of 1 night. Cons: Sound proofing needs improvement. Tiny room. Everything within your arm's length.

Arosa is advertised as a Best Western but I think BW is no longer in the picture. The hotel is in a great location and the price is good. The room was small, I felt like i was in a dorm, but it was adequate for my needs. Clean. No view. Extra pillow and blanket in the closet. Limited TV... More

Not really a 4-star, but fab location. The hotel needs polishing up a little to really meet the standard and the reception staff during our stay were not uber friendly .... That said, the room was cleaned well every day and the location could not have been better. Worth it if you get a good deal..

Great location, very close to the local landmarks and Gran Via metro station. Rooms are clean, quiet and air conditioned. One disappointment was breakfast, definitely not worth getting up for, you're better of going to the Starbucks across the street.

Firstly, the hotel is in a great location. Located on a side street off of Gran Via, just a 2 minute walk from the Subway station. There's shopping, restaurants, ATM's near the hotel. Our room was clean and perfectly suitable however the décor really needs updating. It felt very empty in the room and the TV was from the 90's.... More

I've lived in Madrid for 2 years and I must say there's very few locations as good as this one, undoubtedly the strongest point of this hotel. One of the receptionists was ok, the other didn't even reply to my "buenas tardes". The shape of one of the elevators is great, worth photographing. Now let's get to the room. Size... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
