I traveled solo from the end of June to the 2nd of July. From the moment I walked through the door, the staff was extremely professional, courteous & VERY helpful. The room is very comfortable, great AC - I arrived in the midst of a heatwave - the bathroom was clean, neat, and had plenty of supplies (toiletries, towels, extra... More

The hotel is clean and rooms are a good size but the location is great for exploring Madrid - pretty much everything is in walking distance! We had a japanese room with bed pretty much on the floor but very comfortable except could have done with some more pillows! If I was returning to Madrid and looking for a reasonable... More

This was my third visit to the Arosa perfectly located on the Grand Via almost equidistant from everything. Check in has moved to the ground floor. Lounge and breakfast are upstairs. Two small elevators service the hotel, one oddly pie shaped, but they work well and I never waited. Rooms are basic but the beds are comfortable, the plumbing works,... More

This hotel is located overlooking the Gran Via and is just a few blocks from the Plaza del Sol. It was also within walking distance to the Prado and to the Royal Palace as wall as all the sights inbetween. It is definitely a little dated but is very clean and offers a decent breakfast in a spacious dining room... More

The only good thing about this hotel is the location....THAT'S IT!! We were given a room on the 4th floor that was....UNBELIEVEALBE!! In a bad way!! The dirty/stained smelly carpeting in the hallway leading to our room was a prelude to what the room was going to look like!! It was old, dingy and in dire need of remodeling. The... More

Very good Location - but otherwise nothing special at all. Rooms are transporting you back 20 years in time w/ CRT TV,... However rooms were really clean - which is not always the case w/ elder Hotels - so positive for sure. Staff was friendly and quick. Breakfast only starts at 7am, which was too late for my Business Meetings.

Good location in central Madrid. Front desk staff was helpful and spoke english. They have a nice breakfast, though at busy times not many tables. Windows have soundproofing. The carpets in my room were woren but clean, other rooms had hard wood floors.

This is my forth stay in The Arosa Hotel. My last stay was May 2015 and the overall service and cleanness of the hotel has going down dramatically. Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
