The bed and breakfast feel was cute. The breakfast outside was nice. The location is good too. However, don't plan to stay there for resting. I was shocked by how much they have not invested in sound proofing this old place. You can literally hear every action from your room. In the hotel and on the street. I kept looking... More

As a Marriott member we were upgraded to a suite. The staff was very helpful in getting us reservations and helping with directions. Hotel is located within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and transportation.

Could not give 4.5. I had stayed in the hotel on business 17 years ago and had the chance to be accommodated in one of the suites in the old stables. I decided to go back there with my wife and was not in any way disappointed. It is a little piece of heaven close to everything in Madrid. The... More

This review is long overdue- I meant to write it as soon as we returned from Spain but time has gotten away from me. The hotel is a 10- it has charm, character, fantastic staff, good food and a great location. If you want to be in the center of the city, this is not the hotel for you. If... More

Loved this hotel. Good location. Courtyard was cool and had a very relaxed atmosphere. The hotel upgraded us to a superior room. Largest room I've had in Europe. A great day of rest sitting in the courtyard. Taxis were always ready at the front and the staff was attentive and professional. We will return.

Really enjoyed our stay! The room was fabulous - great sitting area & huge by European standards. The bed was fantastic & very comfortable. We liked the neighborhood - easy to get to tourist attractions & also neat areas that were less touristy

This is a lovely hotel slightly off the beaten path (but close to the metro). The rooms are nice but as others have commented the property has an awkward layout. We were in the adjoining building and didn't mind walking through the pretty courtyard each day but if you are carrying a lot it's a bit of a hassle. The... More

Beautiful property. Rooms were great and staff was very helpful. There is about a 5-10 minute walk to the metro so if you want to be in the heart of the activity this may not be the place for you. NY Times had a very nice comment on this place in an April 2015 travel section. Would happily stay there... More

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights using Marriott points. I will start out saying this is a stunningly beautiful property that has somewhat of an awkward layout. We had a room in a separate building from the lobby that was gorgeous, but the elevator did not quite reach the floor level at times and if you were not... More

Just one night sadly but the Santo Mauro has it all . Classic charm but ultra modern rooms with all the amenities imaginable and a wonderful night's sleep followed by a splendid breakfast . First class all the way .

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
