The Hotel Ritz was gorgeous! The staff was fantastic, drinks amazing and the food was some of the best I have had! Service was A+! I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a mentally located hotel with all the amenities. The workout facility was small, but with a city like Madrid you don't need to... More

I'm giving this hotel a 5-star because it is, but it's not me and I'll doubt I would return. After spending a month in southern Spain, I came here as a surprise for my wife. The service was great, staff excellent, location can't be beat, it's all there. So if I look at this objectively, the this is an excellent... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Ritz on two occasions. We have stayed at the Ritz previously and it is one of our favorite hotels. The rooms are well appointed and have plenty of closet space. The public rooms are in the grand hotel tradition with pianists providing music in various venues from 11 AM to 11 PM.... More

This hotel was beautiful. It's old...and it feels old...and looks old but in all the very best ways. The bed was incredible - linens were comfortable and pillows soft and in sufficient quantity. Plenty of storage for an extended stay so you don't feel like you are living out of a suitcase. The bathroom was nice - could have been... More

An absolute joy staying here. They offer a wonderful breakfast in the morning from 7 - 11:00 am. The Velasquez Bar is very cool and of course is known for their famous Dalitini drink - which is outrageous, so damn good!! Also enjoyed an amazing lunch!! If your able to must try their high tea, which was also very good... More

A wonderful stay in this lovely hotel next to the Prado....old world elegance, hand-made rugs, lovely lobby, great room...huge room keys! The garden is a fabulous place for afternoon tea or a spritz! As I search for something that was less than perfect, the only thing I can think of is tiny size of stand-alone shower. Double windows and doors... More

Everyone on the staff was wonderful from the moment we arrived until we departed! We arrived early morning and were welcomed at the airport by a very knowledgable driver and when we arrived at the hotel we were quickly checked-in and taken to our room. The lobby, the bar, the restaurant, and the garden are all beautiful. Great location and... More

This hotel lives up to its reputation. Great service, lovely rooms and lobby, well located. It reminded us of the Plaza in NYC in its heyday. The garden was not open when we were there, but it looked lovely too.

The Ritz continues to provide excellent standards in the most friendly atmosphere one can hope for. We are never disappointed, except with the continental breakfast which is standard compared to previous years when American style was the standard also.

Dear James, Greetings from Madrid and thank you very much for your great review. It is great to read that you have enjoyed your stay, our facilities and our location. Our breakfast has changed it´s format to offer a better service and even though the buffet may look smaller, now a la carte dishes are included in the american breakfast... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighborhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
