This was the first hotel we stayed at on our family trip to Spain. Amazing location, we could walk to everything. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We could not have stayed at a better place. The hotel was immaculate and the rooms were very clean, spacious and modern. We loved it and will definitely stay here again!

Great neighborhood (not too touristy but lively and close to everything) on a beautiful street with lots of fantastic food close by. The rooms were large, clean and modern. The staff was super accommodating. We had a medical emergency with our son and they were even able to help us figure out how to get to a local hospital. The... More

I just stayed here for a few nights with my husband and children. The hotel is well situated in La Latina in the middle of bars and restaurants. It has a cool-looking restaurant downstairs and the staff was very friendly. It is a short walk from main sights, Puerta del Sol and shops.

Thank you very much for your nice comment. We do agree the hotel is a good option for a complete visit to Madrid; well located, nice sightseing, splendid gastronomy and wide variety of entertainments... the hotel by itself is one of them!. Kind regards!!. The Posada del León de Oro team!!. More

I was originally looking at only 5 stars hotels but kept coming back to the great reviews for this hotel on tripadvisor so we went with it. Couldn't have been happier. Felt like a local staying at this hotel. It really is right in the middle of everything. Walk to San Miguel market, plaza mayor, opera house, shopping you name... More

Went here because of recommendations about gluten free - was worth the walk! Menu was clearly labelled and the good fantastic to share! Waitress was highly knowledgable about gluten free even clarifying that the Sangria was safe! Highly recommend for those gluten free travellers out there for a delicious meal!

This hotel is centrally located, but it's in the very busy area of Madrid (it's like staying in Times Square of New York). It's a good location if you want to experience the night life of Madrid. There is a busy restaurant and Tapas bar on the first floor of this hotel and you can hear the noise in your... More

Stayed here for our first wedding anniversary in May. Madrid is a fabulous city and this hotel matches it. Great staff, fab rooms, comfy beds, giant walk-in shower and a great breakfast. Plus, we had a balcony overlooking Cava Baja - perfect! The only thing that lets the location down - in the middle of everything - is the inevitable... More

Stayed here on an anniversary trip for three nights in April, 2015. Great location; right on the trendy Cava Baja and a 5 minute walk to the Plaza Mayor. We had a very, very small room with a double bed on the third (top) floor. It was noisy during lunch and well into the evening since central courtyard of the... More

This is a nice, small hotel near Plaza Mayor and the famous Botin restaurant. But let me warn you, there's a restaurant and bar downstairs. So it gets SUPER noisy in the evening. Four of us shared one room, so the extra bed was close to the door (and we were on the 1st floor) so maybe that's why it... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighborhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighborhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighborhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
