Visited the 23 - 26 Oct, got a taxi to the hotel which set us back 34 euro, on entering the hotel, staff member behind the desk was not what I'd call welcoming, spoke very little, didnt give any tips / recommendations. we'd booked a jacuzzi terrace room on the top floor - on entering room, our first instinct was... more

Location was great for sidewalk cafes; staff were helpful & spoke English; service when needed was quick & efficient (help with TV & room service). Desk clerk helped us get taxi & reminded me that 35 Euro with luggage should be max for trip to airport. [only time a taxi driver tried to stiff us & we took may taxis... more

This hotel is really a find, especially for those who want to visit the Madrid opera (Teatro real), Situated on a quiet street opposite the opera house it has about 70 rooms, all with fine bathrooms, minibar, AC, TV, free internet and safe. Beds are wide and excellent. Moderate prices, we booked through hotels.de and got rooms for under 90... more

We spent our last three vacation nights at Hotel Opera. We stayed two nights in a queen room. It was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately the only windows were the skylights since we got the last available room...top floor. For our last night we splurged and stayed in a terrace room. This room has a terrace with an awesome... more

On the advice of a good friend, we booked 2 rooms at the Hotel Opera for our first 4 nights in Spain. Not only was the location perfect - safe, non-touristy, right on the metro and near the Palacio with fun outdoor cafes, an incredible park but the hotel itself was great, including the air-conditioning, an essential in July in... more

When we arrived there was jackhammering as the street in front of the hotel was being torn up. So we waited while a room on the 5th floor was made ready. (The jackhammering ended shortly after our arrival and did not resume because it was the San Isidro holiday coming up.) Our room faced a small plaza where motorcyles park,... more

We spent 5 nights in the Hotel OPera earlier this month. We chose it for its location - it seemed quite close to central Madrid, but in a quieter area. Unfortunately there are quite a lot of road works in the area at present, including in the street right outside the hotel; but this did not prove other than a... more

Just got back from a 10-day trip to Spain. Spent two of those nights at the Hotel Opera. As others have mentioned, location was great - close to the metro, Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor, etc. We were in a triple (2 single beds with a separate sofa bed that was made up and ready to go when we arrived). Cost... more

Location of the Hotel was perfect, almost everything you needed was within walking distance (Pubs, Restaurants, Shopping District ,The Royal Palace, Sol, Plaza Mayor), & anything that was outside walking distance(Estadio Santiago Bernebeu, museums, etc), Metro Nearby, Taxi Rank Nearby, Bus Stop nearby. Plus the Hop-on/Hop-off bus stop for sightseeing the best way to see Madrid again nearby. As for... more

If you want to go here: -Take earplugs, as there is noise from the street. -Take a torch, as switching on the bathroom light actually lights up the whole bedroom, reason being pretty frosted green glass of bathroom (but clearly not good for needing the loo in the night if you're sharing a room). -You'll need the heating on at... more
