When we arrived there was jackhammering as the street in front of the hotel was being torn up. So we waited while a room on the 5th floor was made ready. (The jackhammering ended shortly after our arrival and did not resume because it was the San Isidro holiday coming up.) Our room faced a small plaza where motorcyles park,... more

We spent 5 nights in the Hotel OPera earlier this month. We chose it for its location - it seemed quite close to central Madrid, but in a quieter area. Unfortunately there are quite a lot of road works in the area at present, including in the street right outside the hotel; but this did not prove other than a... more

Just got back from a 10-day trip to Spain. Spent two of those nights at the Hotel Opera. As others have mentioned, location was great - close to the metro, Palacio Real, Plaza Mayor, etc. We were in a triple (2 single beds with a separate sofa bed that was made up and ready to go when we arrived). Cost... more

Location of the Hotel was perfect, almost everything you needed was within walking distance (Pubs, Restaurants, Shopping District ,The Royal Palace, Sol, Plaza Mayor), & anything that was outside walking distance(Estadio Santiago Bernebeu, museums, etc), Metro Nearby, Taxi Rank Nearby, Bus Stop nearby. Plus the Hop-on/Hop-off bus stop for sightseeing the best way to see Madrid again nearby. As for... more

If you want to go here: -Take earplugs, as there is noise from the street. -Take a torch, as switching on the bathroom light actually lights up the whole bedroom, reason being pretty frosted green glass of bathroom (but clearly not good for needing the loo in the night if you're sharing a room). -You'll need the heating on at... more

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It right in the heart of the action next to the Opera house and metro. The area is within walking distance of the Plaza Mayor but still quiet enough not to disturb. It is very easy to get to hotel from airport using metro. This is a very good hotel for... more

This is a very nice hotel in the middle of Madrid. 1. location - Excellent, above Opera metro station in the middle of madrid, 5 minutes walk form Plaza puerta de sol, 1 minute from royal palace and surprisingly in a not so loud street given it's location. 2. rooms - we stayed in a regular room with nice views... more

Being a traveller on my own, I experienced no problems whatsoever at this hotel. The reception area was spotless, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and very nice. Although I'd booked a single room, I was given a twin, so the room was bigger than I had anticipated. Bonus in the room was the fact... more

I did like the location of this place. Shopping and tourist sites at hand and Metro station nearby. I had a single room which was just about big enough for me. Reception staff spoke good English but I have got to say that they could have been more helpful when I made enquiries. eg. had to meet a friend at... more

The elevator was on the fritz. We failed to get all but one note left at the desk by friends in Madrid and that note (a telephone message) was indecipherable. The sheets were rough hewn and staff, with one exception, was indifferent. We would not return. That said, the location was perfect for forays around town and the air conditioning... more
