Stayed two nights on a quick stay in Madrid. Room was basic, nothing flash, but clean and practical. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was good and bar area was lovely. Great location in centre of Madrid, can walk everywhere. Good internet, wi-fi in room and free in bar area. more

Me and my friend stayed at the hotel from 2nd-6th of July 2009. The expectations were higher than what we had delivered. The hotel in a nutshell: PROs: - very good location (200m from Gran Via, which is the main street of Madrid & just 20m away from the many El Corte Ingles department stores between Callao Square and Puerta... more

Have stayed at Hotel Carlos V numerous times: the staff are efficient and responsible. The hotel is exceptionally well-situated, near middle of "Sol" neighborhood, in the middle of historic Madrid. Tucked away on a side-street within the pedestrian shopping area, accessible by cab (though not all Madrileños cabbies who work the airport can figure out how to drive up to... more

This is a small boutique hotel, centrally located, very clean and centrally located, next to Sol, Plaza Mayor, restaurants andbars. We had a 5th Floor room with balcony, new bathroom with bidet, quiet A/C . Breakfast was boring so we opted to eat at nearby restaurants after 2days. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. 100Euros/night is well worth it.... more

My wife and I (late 20's early 30's) stayed for four nights. The past reviews are fairly accurate about this hotel. The location is outstanding, within walking distance of the best pubs and restaraunts that we found in Madrid. Great area to just wander around and very safe as well. The problem was the hotel was extremely loud at night... more

The staff was lovely and let us check in very early after a red-eye flight, which we really appreciated. You can't beat the location. It's near all the cool stuff in Madrid. We didn't get in a car or a train for three days. Just walked everywhere. The beds were very very firm. Too firm. Also, it was just two... more

I went to Madrid and Barcelona for a week in mid-Feb. Spent three nights at the Hotel Carlos V and it was one of the better values I've found in Europe. Paid about 65-70 Euros per night for a single room. The room was spotless and well furnished. While the room, like all single rooms in urban European hotels, was... more

Not a friendly hotel but don't know if that is normal for Madrid. Location is terrific near Puerto de Sol. Good sized bath. Comfy beds and hardwood floors. It was raining when we were there and we really missed having a window that looked out. We had an interior room that had a window that looked at other windows. BUT... more

Stayed at this hotel for one night before driving north to Oviedo. The hotel is very well located, within easy walking distance to the Plaza Mayor and close to a lot of shopping/dining. Good locale for older individuals- I travelled with my parents (in their 70's), and they got around easily. The street where the hotel is located can be... more
