Location is second to none right at the center of Madrid. Travelled solo and as non Spanish speaking the Receptionists were so resourceful. The rooms are fair with the price paid and the star rating . Internet is for free and at a decent speed to check your emails. One problem concern I had was that upon check in the... More

Rooms seemed very small and of a normal Best Western standard. Lobby rather tiny, but hotel tucked away off pedestrain street 5 minutes walk from Puerta del Sol, and close to a street filled with restaurants, as well as many shops all around. Another metro stop 3 minutes from the hotel on another line on Gran Via was also handy.... More

The big "however is" to make sure you either see your room first, or request a room with a balcony. The first room we were given, on the first floor overlooked some sort of big outside air duct, you could see nothing , not even much daylight. We found it to be very, very depressing. and were given another room... More

I was lucky to book a double room although I was travelling alone as I think a single room would have been pretty cramped. The double room had all the essentials. I had requested a kettle which wasn't there when I arrived but soon appeared with no problem. The bathroom was fresh and had everything you could want and towels were... More

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it was comfortable and our room was quiet so we had no trouble sleeping. The staff were all friendly, helpful and welcoming. They arranged our transfer to the airport which only cost 20 euros when we had been let down by the arrangements made by our travel agent. They also provided a... More

The hotel is very central but incredibly noisy at night because of the continuous stream of delivery vehicles. Also the beds were so uncomfortable my back seized up for days after. Everything else was good so it's a shame this large hotel group haven't resolved these fundamental problems. Incidentally the rooms on the top floor are much better sound insulated... More

Our first problem was with the taxi driver who had no idea how to approach this hotel as it is in a pedestrianised area, but he got us to within 300 yards and with a bit of pointing directed us to the door. Reception was perfunctory without being particularly warm. The room was compact. Indeed I don't think I have... More

Very nice Hotel in the middle of Madrid. Nice location with much activities, Palacio Real, very much musea, nice and lots of restaurants in the area. Metro nearby for longer distance, like Sanitiago Bernabeau and Plaza de Toros. Also possibilioty to rent bicicle to explore the city by bike.

Great little find in Madrid! As a leisure traveler, we had the very best location for shopping, sight seeing and easy access to the Metro and buses. The hotel staff was friendly, helpful and the breakfast buffet was excellent. For best location, I give it a 10.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
