My girlfriend and I stayed here and were extremely impressed with our premium double room! Our king size bed, decoration and bathroom made our stay very pleasurable. The staff at the hotel took very good care of us and were always very helpful with our queries. The hotel is immaculate and in a very good location, along the Gran Via.... More

The hotel has an excellent location. All staff I encountered were friendly in particular Jose Maria and Raul on the front desk. On check in I was offered a special offer of a reduced rate for breakfast for the two nights, if I so wished. I did avail of the offer. For the reduced price breakfast was good. I also... More

Just returned from a 4 day trip to the Catalonia Gran Via for our 11th anniversary and can't fault it! We booked a superior double room (208 incase you're wondering) and it's a fantastic room complete with street view of some fantastic bars and restaurants. Surprisingly quiet given it was roadside with a spacious room and bathroom. The staff were... More

Based here, the traveller is within walking distance of all activities and attractions, incl. museums,... More

Hotel a ideally located close to all attractions and we walked most days to and from all places. Bus services are plentiful as you are on the gram via. Rooms were large and clean I couldn't complain for the price and Ann communal areas were well maintained , refurbishment work was on going on the facade but it didn't both... More

Three nights during the Christmas holidays. Great expectations for a family break in Madrid. But we were given a too small, without a view, triple room in the first floor. The building needs refurbishing. Furniture, walls, bathrooms look "used by many people", reception hall smells bad. Staff is professional, nothing to say. Breakfast offer is adequate and is constantly kept... More

Just returned after a two night stay.As has been said there is construction work going on but it was quiet at night. The rooms are typical of older Spanish hotels but have everything needed for a short stay. Good toiletries , modern bathroom and very comfortable beds. The reception staff are efficient and friendly and most speak good English. We ate... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
