I stay here 2 or 3 times a year for at least 1 week each time. This last trip I stayed 2 weeks and could have stayed there forever! This is a boutique style, mid size. wonderfully private hotel (about 7 or 8 floors) in an absolutely top location (Barrio de las Letras, Plaza de Santa Ana, steps away from... More

The hotel location is perfect. You can walk to all of the important places. The rooms were average not 5 stars with all of respect.. The staff was too friendly and the house keeping was very good.. I didn't try the room service.. Since Madrid is too busy in the night life .. The hotel close the door -after midnight-... More

This hotel is in a great location. One block from the 2 museums and 10 minutes to Plaza del Sol. The breakfasts are marvelous with a great selection and eggs to order. The room we had (501)was a junior suite with two rooms with a great balcony where you could actually sit outside. Overall the staff was very friendly and... More

This hotel has a 5 star rating and it meets those requirements in all respects. The rooms are medium in size but comfortable. Our room had a view on the plaza, but was not noisy at all. The breakfast is a buffet, with limited warm meal options. The buffet part of it is however very good.

We stayed here in a duplex suite for 4 nights at the beginning of May. What we liked: - The room was fantastic very Spanish in style and made a difference from clinical-looking chain hotels that all look the same. - The artwork throughout the rooms (4th Century Syrian Art) was amazing and gave a wonderful touch. - The breakfast... We throughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Normally we like really modern hotels but this one had such charm and tons of space. Everything was so clean and loved the french doors that opened onto the square. The hotel even had candy in the lobby.

We stayed recently for 4 nights. Hotel is superbly located and kept very clean. The room nicely equipped even though the 3 stairs between the bed and sofa section is inviting trouble.... Easy to find charming classy hotel. Great location, a minutes walk to Prado and the main tourist attractions. Near several metro stations and Atocha railway station. Rather good service. Flawless cleanliness and housekeeping, including turndown service. Good breakfast, efficient serving staff. Free wi-fi everywhere. I had my doubts about the split level room, but it turn out to be a... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
