Location is great, just a few minutes walk from Puerta del Sol! The building has a tiny elevator that can fit max. 2 persons with luggage. The hotel is clean, check-in a breeze, room is nice, has a balcony, tv, great wifi, bathroom a little small, but has all the amenities you need. No common area to mingle with other... More

To suggest this is a hostel would tend to conjour up images of backpackers and 10 to a room. This really is a brilliant 'Hotel'. Whilst its external appearance of a is far from hotel like, once you're in it really is fantastic. The staff are more than happy and helpful 24hrs. The rooms are extremely comfortable, clean and with... More

The only reason it's not perfection is because it's really a hotel not a hostel - there's no common area for guest to mingle & there's no kitchen facilities to use. Outside of those things this place has everything - location, cleanliness, comfort, friendliness of staff & wifi are all fantastic & the shower was easily the best we've used... More

The hotel was conveniently located in central Madrid. The room was nice, clean and pleasant, with balcony facing a shopping street (it was not noisy though). The lady staff was very friendly. The toilet was small, but not too bad.

First time at a hostel but not sure if I got the general experience - and that's not at all a complaint - since this place provided privacy and hotel-level amenities. Though their staff didn't speak much English, they were extremely inviting and open it did not matter. Perfect location, near the Plazas and all the bustling stores/shops but on... More

Stayed with my daughter for 3 night. The location is brilliant, a few minutes from the Metro.minutes walk to Plaza Mayor. My lack of Spanish was no problem as Judy has excellent English. We had one glitch while in Madrid ( nothing to do with the hotel ) but the night reception and Judy made several phone calls on our behalf. If you have... We have stayed at Hostal Art Madrid three times and we will definitely come back. Judy in the reception met us with a warm welcome and we felt immidiately at home. The location is great for everything. Prado, Reina Sofia, Puerto del Sol and Plaza Major are in walking distance.. If you arrive by train, Atocha RENFE is only 3... More

As usual, I did my research on tripadvisor and opted for this hostal. Spotting that there was a discount if I booked directly, I proceeded to do so via their website. Just before I put in my card details I emailed to check that they had 2 twin rooms (it wasn't clear on their site), I was told that they... More

I stayed at Hostal Art in September with my wife and it was really nice. Hostel facilities are simple but great: rooms are nicely decorated, free Wi-Fi (the rest of hotels I stayed in Spain offered paid internet connection), 24 hours reception and air conditioning. Staff was very helpful and recommended us a lot of things to do and see... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
