Very good and confortable two star "hostal" for unformal holidays. very cheap with all services. Rooms with a good bathroom with comforts like hairdried and soap. Indipendent heating and cooling system in every room. Free Wi-Fi. City map and vauchers for several places and attractions on site. Very nice and polite staff. Good hygiene only with a note: please change... More

Fantastic location, everything you need for a budget stay. We walked to all major sights, close to metro stop (but we didn't need this). Judy is brilliant, and lets you keep your baggage at the hotel on your day of checkout (and even offered to use toilets). Rooms ARE basic, but it doesn't claim to be 5* so didn't go... More

The location is very convenient for sightseeing, in the very center of Madrid and close to main attractions. Rooms are small and very basics but clean and with essential comforts. Main issue is that from the rooms you hear all noise from the crowded street and even inside ( our room was in front of the reception and we could... More

Stayed here for two nights on a chaps visit to Madrid , The Hostal is fabulously located for visits to all the major attractions, although it's located in a very lively part of town the rooms are very quiet at night. The rooms are well appointed and very clean and tidy with good showers and excellent aircon. Judy the manager... More

We shared a triple room here which was a little but squashed but who can complain with the price? This hostel is clean and has great Pillows! Definitely worth it if you're on a budget and plan on exploring Madrid most of your day.

Came here cause made reservation in another Hostel, was a bit confused but with a nice city map, everything was solved. Building is nice, lovely wooden stairs (even has a lift), but gives a nice idea about elder buildings in Madrid. There is a lovely girl, with a huge smile, always looking for her guests' needs. 3d floor rooms are... More

Very small, basic rooms but clean and conveniently located in the center of Madrid. Lady at the reception (Judy) was extremely pleasant and arranged an airport shuttle to pick us up the next morning. Both the room and bathroom are very small and tight with not much space to move around. Very thin walls (unfortunately could easily hear what the... More

If you are looking for a clean, friendly, budget-conscious "hostal" in the center of Madrid, look no further! Our hosts were so helpful and welcoming; rooms were basic, but clean - and the front rooms actually have balconies perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day of sight-seeing. Highly recommend for folks who are looking to... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
