Easily accessible to the metro from the airport. Clean, funky, modern hotel. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of it and would see you through until late afternoon. Minutes walk from the palace, cathedral and plaza mayor. Madrid comes alive on a Saturday night, make sure you don't miss it. Would definately go back to Madrid and the hotel.

Hotel looking a little tired but staff friendly, obliging and very welcoming. We were allocated a room facing the main road on the second floor, and the traffic, people talking, sirens gave us an uncomfortable nights sleep. The receptionist was most helpful and despite the hotel being busy allocated a more superior room facing inwards on the first floor which... More

Be careful if you allocated a room on the 1st Floor next to any of the streets all you will get is the sound of ambulances, screeching cars, drunks, an beginning at 5am garbage removal trucks so expecting any sleep is out of the question. The room itself is small but we were not too perturbed after all you don't... More

Dear "Ferocious1", Thank you for the time taken to publish your comment. The Hotel Santo Domingo is located in the very heart of Madrid and that means that, on specific occasions, outside noise can bother to any guest who hope to find in the center of a city an absolute silence. Thank you for your kind words regarding our staff... More

This hotel is in a great location, directly next to the Santo Domingo Metro and around the corner from the Grand Via street. The hotel is modern and boutique style, it was clean and the staff were friendly. We had a standard double room. It has great free wifi and a safe located in the room, there was also a... More

I've spent 4 nights in this hotel and I highly recommend it! It's very central and close to a metro stop though you can walk to most of the touristic spots. Rooms are clean and there is a lot of space, I had a double room with 2 beds. I had a room looking in an inside courtyard and found... More

We traveled to Madrid due to wedding of our friend. When we arrived, the receptionist couldn't find our reservation, so I had to guide him how to find it in the system (I work for a international travel agency). We ordered queen bed, but in the room were 2 twins just put together. So I complained and the room service... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
