well even if we arrived after more than an hour after midnight, the lady was smiley and she offered us another room with less price: wich was good for us as it had quite same caracteristics than the one we booked. I should say she was honest because personally I couldn't get the difference. plus, she didn't oblige us to... More

This is my experience and judgement depends on you. I stayed at this hostel for 2nights with my mother. When we saw the bathroom, it's shared by man and woman. So we asked the host if there is woman only bathroom. He showed us other bathroom. It's near the room of the host. When I took a shower in the... More

Great great location -- Metro with 3 lines120 metres away and loads of places to eat wthin 200 metres -- spotlessly clean, very bright and colorful & the owner was very pleasant. Booked a larger room but owner advised there was a smaller one if I wanted for €20 per night which I took. A few small negatives -- internet... More

It was a good accommodation for the price we paid, very central location and quiet at night so we had no problems to sleep. The rooms are simple, just like the description says. There are several toilets and bathrooms so there was never any trouble finding a bathroom to shower or a toilet that was not occupied.

we just spent the WE there; positive: excellent location, cheap, clean, metro and taxi for the airport (15min drive) around the corner; negative: bad mattresses, very noisy, bad acoustic isolation; overall good value for the price and we would go back.

Not going back ever again. I'd rather sleep on the street. The owner is rude and uneducated. Suspicious and demands payment on entry. Does not pass receipt and wanted to charge more than the combined. Overnight off the wifi. The television without command has only one channel. Wake up everyone at 9 am to clean up the room. On the... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
