Gotta start with the funky decor. Very bright colors, clean room and very nice staff. Wifi was outstanding. Room was comfortable and the fridge was stocked with cold water and sodas each day. This hotel is centrally located to Puerta del Sol and all of the downtown attractions - we walked all around Madrid and only used the Metro to... More

Having spent time/lived In Madrid before.. This is truly a great location. The hotel/ rooms are clean, staff is nice and is super affordable. Rooms are smaller- but at the end of the day- you are visiting an amazing city and are there to sleep. I loved that the hotel was Spain themed... Definitely worth a visit!

A very nice place to visit Madrid. This place is in central point to go everywhere. Welcome is great. The inconvenient are size of the room, the soundproofing and the Windows which are in the interior courtyard

The location is Santo Domingo. Puerta del Sol is 5 or 6 minutes walk away at least. What the French would descrbe as "bijou". In other words, frankly, everything is small. Extremely friendly & helpful staff - Julia was the first we met. Squeaky clean rooms, simple but good value for money. Not for the claustrophobic! It´s not a hotel... More

We loved staying at JC Rooms. They have several locations in the city but this one had a greeaaat locaiton. We were close to all the major sights and we walked around the entire city. The front desk staff was really nice and they helped us with anything we needed including a transfer to the airport. Also they provide a... More

We were warmly welcomed by Javier at front desk and were shown to our room, Puerta del Alcala (or something like that) on the ground floor. The room was a little small but the decor was interesting. The bedspread and curtains had black and white comic prints! The location was perfect. 5 minute easy walk from Puerta del Sol and... More

If you are just staying a short while like we did, this place is good. It's near the city, walking distance to Opera and Sol metro stops. The room is small but then for a short stay, this didn't matter. It could do with more mirrors though. There's only one in the bathroom so a bit tough for two ladies... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
