One thing that stands out is the location of this hostal. It's located on a pedestrian only street sort of in an open-spaced mall. It's near to the Gran Via and subway stations. Almost all the museums, plazas, Madrid palace are within walking distance. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby. The front desk staff was very friendly. We asked... More

Recently stayed there with a friend. As we are both heterosexual males, we asked for 2 single beds but when we arrived we had a double bed between us and when we complained to reception they couldn't understand a word of English so it was a waste of time also the bathroom was very small and it was nearly impossible... Location to trains good but that is about all I can say positive about my 2 night stay. Bed like concrete, walls paper thin, pillows if that's what you call them thin & pointless. Kept awake most of the night as given room next to reception never again will I stay

It was a simple room but very private we could come and go as we pleased. It had an ensuite, WiFi, a tv and a safe in the room. It's right in the middle of the city, you walk straight in to the bohemia area which is full of shops and places to eat. It's so simple to get to... More

Excelent budget accomodation right there in the centre of Madrid, clean, well mantained and very professional and helpful staff. 5 minutes to the train station, walking distance to major landmarks, restaurants and Cafes. Staff arranged a taxi service to the airport.

Me and 5 friends stayed in this Hotel/Hostal for 3 nights and were very happy with our stay. The location is perfect surrounded by shops and restaurants. The Gran Via is a 2 minute walk which has everything you need including bars and restaurants with seating outside. The rooms we had were clean and the beds were comfy so no... More

My friends and I were looking for a budget-friendly but reasonably nice and safe place to stay during our visit. We were dissatisfied with the customer service and on arrival witnessed a couple checking out showing the owner BED BUG bites. We were concerned and thoroughly checked our beds 4 times, feeling uncomfortable with our choice. The hostel is outdated... More

Horrible place. When we checked in we saw guests leaving early, complaining & showing their bedbug scars to the manager after staying overnight. No talking allowed after 12AM. No visitors allowed - very impractical for families & groups visiting cities together. Manager is completely mental! 12PM checkout time is STRICT - 15 or even 5 mins past will result in... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
