Used the hotel for a two day weekend break. Very large room but with three single beds. Small television an fridge. Bathroom basic with shower in bath. We certainly experienced a lack of hot water on a few occasions. We asked for an did get a very quiet room so no complaints there. All in all an ok stay but... More

We had a very enjoyable four nights in this hotel recently. We picked the hotel due to its location and were not disappointed. As well as this we were also impressed with the service offered, e.g. the hotel helpfully took delivery of some Real Madrid tickets we had ordered and the room had reliable, free wifi. Only minor criticism would... More

Just stayed 5 nights at this hotel. It represented good value, but couldn't quite see how it got the 4 star rating .Quite dark corridors and rooms.Minor irritations; wall lamp not working above one bed,air con seemed to create noise, but not change the temperature of the room ,toilet seat not designed for human anatomy (avoid emergency descent). The window looked... I stayed for 10 nights at Agora Juan de Austria and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone spending a few nights in Madrid. The location is great, the neighborhood is centrally located and very nice with lots of restaurants, cafeterias and bars. Lots to see around the area. The hotel has a very classic decor, nothing exciting, but the... More

I stayed here for 3 nights and it was ok. My room was very big, but very classically decorated with heavy tapestry. The bed is also big and good to sleep in, but the pillows are really minuscule and not so comfortable. The breakfast is ok, with decent bread and fresh fruits, but the wlan was a joke. All in... The hotel is located in a quiet street not too distant from the touristic places. Plaza de Espana is a 20 minute walk away, the next metro station just 5 minutes. I had asked for a quiet room and did get one - very calm to the inner courtyard. Also I never heard any noise from other guests. The interior... More

I stay in this Hotel whilst going on Buisness Trips to Madrid as the Office is just around the corner. The Location is great, the staff are friendly. I always enjoy the Breakfasts and the rooms are huge. The furniture is a little outdated and could be modernised but it is good value for money.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at the Juan de Austria for a weekend in July (12 to 14), room 401. I chose this 4-star hotel because it seemed to be the best value for money option close to a venue I wanted to attend on Saturday night, not too far from the centre and in one of Madrid's nicest areas. My impressions of... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighborhood Profile
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
