My family and I went to Paris, Belgium, Barcelona & Madrid, i gotta say tho we never slept so comfortably like we did at this hostal. Im not sure what it was maybe the homey feel to it but I highly recommend it. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It was my first time at a hostal and there... More

Spent four nights in this hostel from 17-21st .of April this year . It was our first time to stay in a hostel and we were very pleasantly surprised. Located on the 4th floor of a building in Plaza Vazquez de Mella it overlooks a busy square`with a couple of open air bars with cafes and tapas bars in the... More

Great rooms, clean . Stuff was very cooperative and polite .. Didn't notice prostitution! Walking distance to gran via and metro station . Jose was very helpful with all the information regarding restaurants, how to get around . The bathrooms were small ,but spotless and that's more important than big bathrooms . We felt very secure amd we will come back... More

Me and my husband stayed here for two nights. It is just two blocks away from Gran Via and all major sites are within walking distance (Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real, Plaza Cibeles, and Prado Museum). The staff are very kind and helpful. Our room is cozy with a nice view of the square. Toilet and bath is... More

Stayed here for three nights, end of October, nice clean rooms, friendly service, can't fault it really. Had a room overlooking the square ( my choice ) and loved it, nice to sit with a bottle of wine at the end of the day, ĵust watching it all going on!? Didn't see any prostitution going on, maybe I don't stay up... More

Beware, front rooms facing onto the Plaza are attractive, with balcony, but very very noisy. The district is very lively (think Soho in London) with lots of restaurants, night clubs and in the adjacent street very obvious prostitution. A very polite owner who responded very willingly to our request to change to an 'inside room' after first sleepless night and... More

Amazing staff, very clean rooms, excellent location. There are so many great bars and restaurants around. Really, it's the best option for a solo traveller. I'm glad I chose this place, and I'll definitely recommend it to a friend.

This place was fabulous! Clean, quiet, extremely friendly staff and excellent location! It is walking distance to all the local attractions and one of the main shopping areas is just a block away. No breakfast available at the hotel but they have a coffee machine and there is a bakery literally across the square where it is located. The hotel... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
