This is one of the best hostels I've stayed in. It has good facilities, a great location in the heart of the city, and the most kind and helpful staff I have ever encountered at a hostel. It's very secure - you need a key card to get in the building and into your room, and the key cards expire... More

This hostel had the best atmosphere I've ever experienced in a hostel. The rooms were spacious with lockers, and the communal kitchen was super social and well-equipped. The common lounge room had a giant bean bag that was my favourite thing ever. We all loved Matheo (I'm not sure how to spell his name) - he worked there and was... More

This hostel is one of the best managed hostels I've seen, you can see that from the the second you step in, the main hostel door and your dorm door, all locked and only open by a card that you get when you arrive, just like hotels,so safety is well taken care of. Never looked at a corner on the... More

I loved Way Hostel. The rooms are what you would expect from a decent hostel, but what set it apart was the evening activities and day tours available. I met so many awesome people and had a great time.

I was hosted for 2 weeks in Way Hostel so I can say it is a very good place to go if you are coming to Madrid. They have things planned everyday, since day trips to Toledo, walk tours in Madrid, pub crawl and activities so people can interact, like drinking games. The staff are really cool and willing to... I felt welcomed by everyone, staff, guests, and even the their chef who made a bangin Paella. This hostel had the best energy. The staff seemed to genuinely care about their hostel and making sure that everyone had a good time no matter where they came from or how large the language barriers were. They had a ton of useful... My friends and I loved staying here. It is very cheerful and welcoming, the people there are amazing. All the staff speak a variety of languages so you can speak to them in English or practice your spanish. The rooms are clean and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. The owner was accommodating and let us switch rooms so our whole... More

Good Points: Friendly and helpful staff, clean, great location Bad Points; No power sockets next to bed, wifi doesn´t work very well (if at all), impossible to close the room doors quietly, numerous shower heads broken throughout the washrooms and the tempreture fluctuates as does the flow of water - sometimes it´s just a trickle.

A really, really great place. Cheap, friendly, right at the center of Madrid and proposing a number of activities, such as the walking tour and the nightly pub crawl sessions. Spain being THE European country in terms of partying, it was to be expected that I spend every night of my stay mingling with the crowd, sharing a drink or... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
