Where to start... We have just returned from a 6 night stay in this hotel. From the minute we walked through the door we just knew it was going to be fantastic. The staff on the front desk were very helpful and spoke the english language very fluently. Prior to arrival I had requested a street view room on a... More

Stayed at hotel with friends for a city break. Staff were so friendly throughout the stay, very accommodating and always willing to help. In my opinion the hotel is what I would class as 'boutique" - the rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. The only down side was the noise from... More

Great base to explore Madrid from. We stayed with our three adult children in a family room that was clean and excellently furnished. The space for all five of us was comfortable enough to give us a sense of privacy. The bed in the main bedroom was huge while our kids loved their bunk beds - said it made them... More

The Petit Palace, Santa Barbara, Madrid is one of a group of hotels in the Capitol, but what a gem! Close to the metro and with bus stops and taxi ranks close by could not be better sited for a few days away. The hotel itself is terrific. Hotel is in a great location, close to metro station, close to some good restaurants, safe neighborhood, and a few interesting shops around Not particularly a touristy area but metro works very well to get around to museums and plaza/palace. Hotel Facilities are very modern; room was large and comfortable Staff was friendly and most spoke English to be helpful.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
