The location is great and the room was really clean, but the noise in the hostel is too much. The tiled floors don't help, neither do the 2 bars directly underneath. All in all, if you are really budget concious and a heavy sleeper, this is a good choice. Otherwise, it's worth the extra for a hotel.

I am very disappointed :(, I made a reseravation with free cancellation. Sadly I had to cancel my reservation (1 month before the arrival date!!!). You can imagine my surprise when I realised that they charched me for the cancellation that was supposed to be free: "Free cancellation up until 3 days before check-in". SIX months later, I still DON'T... More

Hidden in a narrow street in the center of Madrid. You have to be very careful to trace it. Clean and warm, nice room. I would like to have a view to the beautiful street, as the a/c was covering the whole balcony door. I would like to have the breakfast included. A little noisy street at night, but still,... More

Location of the hostel was excellent. I cannot complain of the service though English was not available as expected. Rooms were being renovated and clearly many rooms and bathrooms had been recently redone. Airconditioning was good although there was only one remote control shared by many rooms. The same effort that went into maintaining the floors and walls did not,... More

There are Bedbugs in room n°1, i've been bitten everywhere on the first night. Moreover proprietary decide to construct a new room (lay parquet, vacuum cleaning) during two mornings (they couldn't wait the afternoon...) however the hostel is well placed and the price was cheap. If you're not afraid about insects bites, try it ;)

I stayed here for two nights with a partner in June 2012. we did find it initially difficult to find, it's just a door right beside the O Connell st irish pub. our first impression wasn't great, as it's quite small and on the 4th floor of an apartment building (don't worry, there's a lift!) but this turned out to... Great advantage of Hostal Olivier is its location, it is just next to Plaza del Sol. Rooms are cozy but rather small. Bathroom was new although very small. Another thing is a noise from other rooms and pub under the hostal. If somebody like silence this is definitely not the right place. It is for people who likes parties. During... More

It's a hostal but I traveled with enough friends to get a private room so didn't experience the room share experience. The room was ok. Not dirty but certainly not the cleanest. As this and many other lodgings in the area are right above bars and restaurants, which isn't that bad if that's what you're here to do, the noise... More
