I stayed in Hostal Abril Madrid for 7 nights in June 2014. The hostal staff - a young man - was very helpful and friendly, always smiling no matter what time you went to ask him something. The room was clean and it was cleaned every day. It was quite small but as I travelled alone I didn't need a... More

This is my first time at an Europena Hostal and it was perfect. Clean rooms, friendly staff, WIFI, and in the heart of the night scene of Madrid. I loved how close it was to all the shopping areas and within walking distance to Plaza Mayor and other turism atractions.

I had to go to Madrid and stay there for a night. I searched this place in the Internet and I was not too sure about what I was going to find... I must say that I was very pleased with the service and the room. The single room cost 43 euros for one night and was very clean. The... More

It's a nice place. The attention is great and is a very independent place where you have your key. Comparing to other places is not so cheap, you don't have breakfast or phone. But the location is great.

Very basic hostel. Private room and bathroom that were clean on arrival. Booked the room 2 hours before arrival and could not complain. No other services available. Very central location, walking distance to all the sights. Would not stay there again though unless it's last minute.

Its at Calle Fuencarral where many shops are located, within walking distance from Gran Via Metro Station, in terms of location its very convenient. Free wifi in rooms with strong signal. Unfortunately there is no basic facilities like Water pot to boil your hot water and make your coffee & tea. Even if there is no kettle in each room,... More

There was no point getting a 'private bathroom' as it was a tiny bathroom with no sink, better off using the shared bathrooms. Not worth 50€ a night.

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
