The location is ideal. It's within walking distance to everywhere. Plaza Mayor is very interesting with many unique shops and restaurants. The apartment is big. But it is no way suitable for a good stay. There's no telephone. So we had to use our handphone to call the maintenance and reception (rent4days). There was no bath towels and I had... More

I got the apartment from rent4days. I believe there are other operators for the other units in the building. This was my 1st trip to Madrid and I didn't know what to expect. Plaza Mayor is a square so no cars can get in. There are many shops facing the square. On the ground floor are the shops and restaurants.... More

We stayed at Plaza Mayor Deluxe apartment for almost a week and what an amazing place!. We felt like locals every time we pulled out the key to open the main door of such a fantastic historical great location". We didn't use the kitchen facilities at all just because we were surrounded by so many places to eat. We had... More

We stayed in aprtment 5B for 3 nights, and Angelica who checked us in was excellent with perfect English. The location of the apartment is superb if you want to be in the absolute centre of the city. Overlooking a very busy square it is perfect for people watching - [as long as you don't mind climbing out of the... More

This place couldn't be in a better spot. very central. Quiet at night though. Great spot to explore the city from. We ran an hour later than our predicted arrival time so missed the check-in agent and had to call the agent to come back and meet us. No extra cost though.. Def recommend it for 2-5 people

There is no better location than this.. We stayed there (2 of us) for a long weekend and felt like not leaving the apartment!! The sunny floods into the bedroom each morning and the magical sounds of the historic Plaza Mayor fill the apartment. It's heaven.. I would be happy to stay in a shoe-box for that location but it... Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
