I travel frequently to Madrid and I usually stay at the hostel Casillas. It has an excellent location. The manager is very friendly, attentive and helpful. It is always very clean and correct. Highly recommended place in the center and with very competitive prices.

Yes, the hotel is located in a great place BUT it's in the third floor with no elevator - had to carry my baggage to the third floor.. the wifi reception doesn't work on most of the room's, there's no air conditioner only heating, therefore if you have other choice I would suggest you wouldn't go here!!

Looking at website, it looked nice. Room I had was nothing like the one in the photos. Cramped and a bit of TLC. Quite noisy as it looked out onto a courtyard, and if neighbours had their windows open the noise travelled. Walls very thin, you could hear everything that was happening in the reception area and next room. .... More

Fab location - just off Gran Via, Chueca district, loads of bars and restaurants and I had no prob with noise. Very friendly staff. Prob with lots of luggage as no lift but the staff helped drag luggage upstairs. Fine if looking for somewhere to sleep central with no frills.

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
