I go to Madrid once or twice a month and this is the best hotel I've stayed at in Madrid (e.g. better than the Ritz and Villa Magna). Excellent service, superb breakfast, very nice bedrooms, besides a fantastic location.

We stayed in your hotel for the week end and from the arrival to the end this experience fulfilled our expectation We had dinner the first night in the hotel restaurant with the most interesting and good menu We have been upgraded to better rooms and we experimented a very quite and not noisy location in one of the very... We have just returned back from Madrid, we checked in at Unico Hotel on April 9 till 12, 2015. We had a great time, this was our 3rd time at the same hotel in less than a year. The hotel is very nice, staff very friendly and professional especially Fouat who was very helpful anytime we needed any restaurant reservation... More

An excellent boutique hotel located in the right spot for leisurely shopping. Nice modern rooms and good service.Good restaurant in the evening (Chef Ramon Freixa, two M stars), interesting food market nearby – mercado de la paz – with an excellent and inexpensive tortilla place (Casa Dani), and a posh new tacos place 10 minutes away: Quintin Ultramarinos.

Stayed here for two night the first week in April. Lovely boutique hotel well designed, elegant and in good decorative order. The staff try and be helpful but either don't get it or do not have the resources correct mishaps and shortcomings... My room on check-in was cool... but became freezing with the temperature showing at 16c... Pushing the A/C... More

In Madrid's calm, upscale Salamanca neighborhood, the boutique Hotel Unico served our expectations beautifully. Staff were outstanding -- accessible and helpful. Breakfast in the ground-floor garden was excellent -- one feature was that the entire menu was on offer, without the annoyance of extra charges for items on request -- another was the range and quality of the baked goods.... We stayed for 3 nights during the Easter break. While the location cannot be faulted it is critical that attention to detail be at the forefront of any hoteliers' mind to retain and justify a 5 star rating. The staff were all exceptional, the overall interior design was attractive but the first room we were shown to was cramped and... More

If you want to stay in a very nice part of Madrid where you can find good restaurants and shops the Unico is a great choice. Hotel is small and really perfect in every detail. The breakfast is really good and you can have it in a enchanting garden. Service perfect and discreet. Only problem, common in Madrid, Is that... More

A very recent stay at Hotel Unico was pleasant in the quieter, but less accessible area in Salamanca. The hotel blends in to the neighbourhood with a small sign to identify it. Check in was easy and the staff were informative and friendly. We had reserved a room that was roomy with a fabulous shower and whirlpool tub. Wonderful water... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
