I moved to this place from a big-name hotel out by the airport and wish I'd been able to stay here the whole time! It's right in the middle of everything, about a 1 minute walk from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. Tons of restaurants, shopping, museums, etc. within walking distance. The staff were super friendly and helpful and... More

This hostal is very central. It's only about a 3-minute walk from Metro Sol & about 8 minutes from Opera. My first room was a single with a small sink & balcony, strong WIFI (free), air con and a TV. It was clean & adequate. Apart from the bed, there were two electrical outlets, a chair & a little table.... More

Very nice location, right in the centre! Do not expect to be able to socialize at this place, there are only rooms (no kitchen or communal area). It's very simple but rooms are OK and price was good. Reception people were so nice!

Very nice place to stay! Located in the centre of the city, close to the subway and main attractions. Moreover, it's easy to find. I stayed in a 2-bed room. It was small, but very cosy+ you have your own bathroom and shower. Beds are nice, there is ac in the room. The people who work there are nice and... More

This hostel is super cheap. Rooms are tiny but you have your own bathroom and balcony. Despite the fact that it's located in the very centre of the city it's not noisy at all. The staff was very friendly. Location is perfect. You can easily get wherever you want. San Miguel market is very close.

The hostel is located in perfect place, and there is a lift, so it is much easier to go up and down couple times a day. :) Rooms are small, but clean, well heated, and there is air conditioner. Bed is comfortable. Despite that not all of receptionist speak english, all of them are very helpfull. In hostel you can... More

More

As most of my reviews people need to know this is not a luxury hotel! But ideal for anyone looking for cheap centrally located base to enjoy the city. The location is unbeatable 1 minute from Sol and Mayor. The room was small but clean and had its own bathroom. Bed was very comfy but could have benefited by having... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
