I really liked this Hotel and I would stay there again. The staff was very frendly and informative, they gave excelente tips on where to eat, where to party, how to get to the places. It's also in a 5-minute walk (or less) from the metro statin Puerta del Sol and also a few minutes walk from main attractions like... More

The hotel is so well situated in the center of Madrid , close to all the main touristic attractions , to the metro , the shopping sites ,(mall and international brands ) , it really is easy to go almost everywhere from there , not to mention that it is 2 minutes away from both puerta del sol and plaza... The hostel is just in the centre of Madrid - 3 mins walk from plaza del Sol. It's quite easy to find it if you know how the hostel systems work. In general the whole place seems okay: true spanish house right in the centre, friendly staff. But the room i booked was the worst place I ever lived in.... More

The hostal is 5 minute walk from Vodafone Sol Metro station and all major sights are within 15 minutes walking distance. The rooms are small, the bed is small, the bathroom even smaller. But it is clean, the staff is very nice. I especially remember Oscar, who told us how to get around. Just downstairs are three pretty good restaurants,... More

Although my room with bathroom was minute - the penalty for being single - there was just enough space to move about. It has to be remembered that it is bang in the centre of Madrid and therefore the price was very reasonable. It could do with a couple more plugs – the lovely lady on my first night bought... More

The position was excellent! The hostel is located literally at the heart of Madrid. Most of the sights are easily accessible on foot. The prices were great, they could require more than twice the money for this position. The rooms were very clean, the towels were changed regularly. Friendly staff. On the down side, the receptionist did not speak English... More

I moved to this place from a big-name hotel out by the airport and wish I'd been able to stay here the whole time! It's right in the middle of everything, about a 1 minute walk from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. Tons of restaurants, shopping, museums, etc. within walking distance. The staff were super friendly and helpful and... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
