The hostal is situated directly on Gran Via, which makes it a good location for visiting Madrid and for shopping tours. Inside the hotel it is very quiet, but you can hear the noise from Gran Via (also during night). Rooms on the other side (not to Gran Via or Calle San Bernarndo) might be better. The rooms are not... Excellent price/quality. Perfect location for shopping and entertainment (Grán Vía) as well as going out (Malasaña). The hotel staff is really nice and helpfull. Three breakfast options in the same building on the ground floor.

Hostal was always clean, shared bathroom was always free. Common area was very quiet. Great location, great views, friendly staff. Easily accessible by transit, great late night eatery across the street

I had an ambiguous experience with Hostal Besaya. first of all, although most of the staff members are not fluent with English, they are super nice, very warm and welcoming and give you the feeling that you're at home. however, I was very disappointed to find out that the room (818) had a strong smell of sewer and the staff... The place was very tidy, clean and quiet. The staff and the place in general was welcoming. They were all really nice. The facilities were sufficient. The location is great, right on The Grand Via on a 8th floor so no noise bothered us.

Every time I visit Madrid this is the Hostel I choose for my accommodation. This was my fifth stay, and will keep coming back. Great location and accommodation, always well received, and with a fair price.

Had a fantastic three night stay here last week. perfectly located hotel, close to all the shops and main sights of madrid. also easily accessible by metro. the owners were always lovely, letting us check in early, lending us a hairdryer etc. we had a private bathroom, but the shared facilities look fine as well. very reasonably priced, really happy... I wished I had stayed longer than the 2 nights planned. Upon arrival, I was given an upgrade to a double room at 805, instead of the single room I booked, as they no longer have single rooms as I was told. In any case, I was very happy with the room whether or not it was an upgrade because... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
