Great help and guidance from owner and staff when being there. If going for 3-4 days to Madrid on your own or with friends, make sure you dont have too much luggage since taxis are a headache in Madrid/ close to Sol, Gran Via, excellent bars cafeterias theatres in nearby Gran Via. Congrats and Gracias/

We stayed for 2 nights in this centrally-located hostel. The staff were very helpful and kind, and the room was very charming, but the highlight was definitely the view-- we didn't know when we booked that we would have such an incredible view of Madrid from our room, but we sure enjoyed it. It was pretty noisy, even up on the... More

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel, it is near to almost everything you need to see in Madrid. There are about 4 subway stations near this hostel. If you are coming and going from/to Madrid Airport, take the Plaza España station. The staff is so friendly. Ive got a private bathroom. They offer very good rate and it was... More

We stayed here as a group of friends and booked 4 rooms, This is a great base for exploring Madrid. Its clean, staff are friendly and it has a fantastic shower. We arrived earlier then checkin and as some rooms were ready we were given them immediately. We also were allowed to leave our bags at reception on our day... More

The hostal is situated directly on Gran Via, which makes it a good location for visiting Madrid and for shopping tours. Inside the hotel it is very quiet, but you can hear the noise from Gran Via (also during night). Rooms on the other side (not to Gran Via or Calle San Bernarndo) might be better. The rooms are not... Excellent price/quality. Perfect location for shopping and entertainment (Grán Vía) as well as going out (Malasaña). The hotel staff is really nice and helpfull. Three breakfast options in the same building on the ground floor.

I had an ambiguous experience with Hostal Besaya. first of all, although most of the staff members are not fluent with English, they are super nice, very warm and welcoming and give you the feeling that you're at home. however, I was very disappointed to find out that the room (818) had a strong smell of sewer and the staff... The place was very tidy, clean and quiet. The staff and the place in general was welcoming. They were all really nice. The facilities were sufficient. The location is great, right on The Grand Via on a 8th floor so no noise bothered us.

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
