The location of the hostel was excellent: really close to the city center of Madrid. To be honest, we did expect more of the city Madrid... . We had a room of 6 beds, wich was very clean, and even had it's own small bathroom. The hostel didn't include breakfast, but had a very large kitchen. Too bad some people... More

This was my first visit to Madrid. I stayed in Las Musas Hostel. It was one the best experience I ever had in Europe. The staff and people were very friendly. The facilities provided at hostel were excellent. The room and bathroom are very clean. The best part of the Hostel is the bar at roof top. The beers and... More

Beautiful staff greet you on entry as the place is buzzing with laughter and many different accents and faces! Check in was quick and as we checked in late, we were quick to our rooms. Instantly invited up on the roof top for beers and the house mojito (a must try!). We stayed in an 8 dorm room with a... More

Really pleasant experience here. Lovely clean and crisp hostel with helpful friendly staff and great facilities, perhaps a bit quieter so maybe not so great for those looking to party, that being said there was a rooftop bar and organised pub crawl which were both great. However for me during my stay, quiet was perfect :)

I wish I had stayed longer! This hostel offered so many free (or really cheap) activities to everyone. No breakfast but they offered coffee and little snacks in the common area for people to help themselves to. Good kitchen, several supermarkets very close by. Wifi worked well. Only complaint was the aircon sucked in the 8bed dorm I stayed in!... More

Spacious, nice & comfortable rooms. Nice social atmosphere & great shared space. Lots of activities on offer. Very helpful and enthusiastic staff. The hostel is located just off a main street, it is very close to all the major attractions.

The staff there are ridiculously friendly, helpful and very welcoming. And it seems that they only attract guests that are exactly like that too. The place is clean and is upbeat and great to hang out in and they also offer lots of activities. Not to mention, the hostel's location was ideal. La Puerta del Sol was only a 5... More

The difference is in the details. Las Musas could be an average hostel, with kind staff, very good location and a great lounge area and clean rooms, but Las Musas offers cool additions, like print your check in flights for free. The price per night is very competitive, and offers a pretty cool location, with places to eat and take... More

Definitely a great hostel for it's price. Room's were roughly €12/bed, and very clean. The location seems a bit sketchy at first, but only 5 minute walk to plaza mayor. There is a pub crawl every night if you're looking to meet people, as well as a rooftop terrace bar that's open until 10:45 every night. Very social hostel if... More

Nice girls at front desk, easy check in and luggage storage. Wifi is great in lobby, spotty in rooms. The bathroom ceiling leaked toilet water on us in our bathroom and the shower had no hot water. Eh. Bed was comfy and I always felt safe though. Location is okay, but not in the center. The walking tour was not... More

Staying in Lavapies

Neighborhood Profile
Lavapies
Walking into this neighborhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighborhood.
