Standard European travellers hotel... with an odd futuristic twist! Small rooms, but enough space for suitcases. Modern decor, but very dark. We were on our honeymoon, and they send up a bottle of cava - thoughtful! Location was great - steps to Placa Real and Mercado San Miguel

We were extremely impressed by the helpfulness of the staff on our arrival. We had left a medical machine in the taxi and they were very helpful in retrieving it. The hotel itself was very clean, small but comfortable, recently upgraded and in a great location. The advice given by the staff on the best way to see Madrid, places... More

You rarely find hotels with such a Setup that is suitable for large families. We took a room that had enough beds for 6 people and had 2 bathrooms with showers... The only thing I would have like is if had some extra privacy (all beds are in the same area) ... Breakfast was good.... The location is really great,... More

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in Aug. 2015 with my family. The room was not very big, but, looked good, clean, and, still spacious for me. Children liked 2-story bunk bed very much while I could sleep very well apart from children. We stayed in floor 6, view from the windows was good, and calm even located... More

We stayed here in the summer of 2014. We had an accessible room, which was properly equipped for people with disabilities requiring a wheelchair. There is a wheel in shower and plenty of space in the bathroom. The room was facing the market and the street, and it was a bit noisy during the night. Breakfast was OK, but nothing... More

The hôtel has a great location, really if it wasn't for the location and also for the good spirit of the front office staff I would have regretted my stay there. The administration needs to work seriously on the whole running of the hotel. The house keeping is not good, they forget to change the towels for example. The maintenance... More

We stayed 4 nights in the beginning of August 2015 and chose this hotel because of its central location. The hotel is very close to the Mercado de San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol and the shopping area. From the airport by metro From Madrid Barajas Airport terminal 2, we travelled by metro to Vodafone Sol.... More

Location is fantastic! Immediately off Mayor Square, close to shopping, food, drinks, tapas/party district, palace, etc. Staff we interacted with were fantastic! Helpful, patient, all you could ask for. Physical plant - mixed. First night we were in a 4 person room, which sounds really good with a party of 3. Bunk beds - great if you have 6 year... More

The location was superb; however, the hotel did not offer the amenities of some other hotels in the area, yet the cost was roughly the same. We stayed four nights - one day was without water, another day was without air conditioning while Madrid was > 100 oF. The small a/c unit could not keep up with the heat of... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
