We only spent one night in Madrid and the location of the hotel is perfect, walking distance from what should be visited in Madrid. We also had a spacious room with spectacular view and basic a meninges provided. Breakfast was delicious and offered great variety. The only negative opinion is about poor WiFi.

Positives: great location, walking distance from all museums etc. Just over road from Plaza Mayor and Mercado San Miguel (excellent tapas) Easy to get to from airport (Renfe "Cercanias" line with one change to Sol). Friendly, helpful staff - gave us excellent recommendation for non-touristy flamenco club (Corral de la Moreria, pricy, but well worth it). Clean, quiet in our... More

Me and my girlfriend decided to stop in Madrid after our vacation in Ibiza, so I booked and prepaid this hotel just 48 hours in advance through my phone. Nevertheless I got confirmation on my mail and also my bank confirmed that the funds are transferred. So for my great surprise when we arrived in Madrid around early evening, the... More

There is not one thing I didn't like about this hotel. The room was exactly like you see it in the photos. It was big and clean, the bed very comfortable, all the stuff very nice. The location is excellent, right next to Plaza Mayor, with a lot of restaurants around. Despite it's central location the room was very quiet.... More

It was exactly like a pic you see. Nice clean spacious Room. Shower is nice but water overflow to the bathroom a little. Room is hot enough. Breakfast is awesome. Location is super! San Miguel market right across and to sol, to cathedral and to place will take less than 5 min by foot. We travel with 2 year old... More

This is not a *fancy* hotel, but its perfect for a city vacation. The Hotel is located right across Mercado San Miguel and a small walk away from the Royal Palace, Puetro Del Sol and even the Pardo. The breakfast is quite good as well. On the other hand, don't count on the hotels soap and shampoo. Oh, and even... More

Pleasantly surprised when visiting this hotel. It's pretty small and some parts (like the lifts) could do with a refresh, but our rooms (416 + 417) were lovely. Very comfortable beds, and a great shower in 416 - really powerful. Big bathroom and lots of storage options. The rooms were both quite funky and well designed. Although, there is a... More

Great location opposite Plaza Mayor, very pleasant, modern rooms. The breakfast is execellent and the dining room staff wonderful. Receptionists are all kind and helpful, especially Vicente who answered every question with a smile and was happy to assist us.

Family room a little compact for four, two adults and two teenagers, but we had our own balcony with excellent views. Location was brilliant, very central. Breakfast good with excellent selection. Reception staff were great and could not have been more helpful.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
