I was very happy staying in this hotel. Mrs Chelo and her collegues were helpful, allowed me and my business partners to store loads of luggage for as long as we needed, they gave us advice on where to go and what to do in the city... The hotel is clean and simple and doesn´t have a restaurant, however, it´s... More

Great little hotel! Room was spacious for price, safe in room, minutes walk to shops, cafes, restaurants ... beautiful Madrid! This Barrio is just up and coming .... and while it may seem a little questionable for the non-traveller ... for the initiated - this is very cool! Staff were brilliant. We had excessive noise our first night ... it... More

You can't beat Hostal Ballesta for cleanliness, location and price. I hesitate to call it a hostal. It's more of hotel. The location is excellent! 5 minutes walk to Puerta del Sol and 7 to Plaza Mayor

Stay here November 10th to the November 16th brilliant value for money and really friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this hostel it's only a two minute walk to the city centre with plenty of taxis buses and metors so your never stuck for a lift anywhere. The room wasn't the biggest but this didn't disappoint it was very clean and... More

It was my first time staying In a Hostal in Spain, And didn't know what to expect. Turned out its basically a small hotel. The rooms were not as big as a normal hotel room. But that didn't matter. We only used the hotel to sleep in(barely!). The staff were helpful at check in. Only took a few mins. Yes... More

I stayed here with one of my friends - we both had single rooms and they were a decent size with plenty of space for all your clothes. Comfortable beds and a good sized bathroom. A cozy hotel, you'll feel like home. Small rooms but the hotel's great location (just 30 seconds from the heart of Gran Via) make up for any disadvantage. I would stay there whenever travel to Madrid.

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
