The hotel is located in the 2nd floor of a building, which is going through some renovations in the front. It's centrally located, a couple of steps from the Alonso Martinez Metro station. It's centrally located, 10' walking distance to La Puerta del Sol and 20' walking distance to Plaza Mayor. It's also 15' walking distance to the US Embassy.... More

Very comfortable place to stay, especially the leather couch as seems like around it the wifi is most strongest. Small rooms but clean. Stayed only one night but got the last minute deal for like 11 euros. Location is superb- metro, restaurants, cafes all over the place.

This hostal (a hostal is something halfway between a hostel and a hotel) is really well located, facing the nice little Santa Barbara square, full of bars, pubs and cafes. Really close to Chueca and pratically on Calle Hortaleza, that leads to Gran Via and consequently Sol, the hostal was nice on the inside too, clean rooms and good services.... More

After a frustrating 30min start trying to get into the place as no one was at the reception desk. Eventually after weaselling my way in the front door I made it to the second floor where I could call someone who gave me the code to get in. Once inside further instructions were given to me by a one way... More

First of all the location is great. The metro station Alonso Martinez is just around the corner and the central square Sol is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Rooms aren't very big, but they were clean and quiet. The hotel is not very easy to find since there are no signs anywhere. (hint: it's the green door).... More

Hostal Asunción is a good option if you need a place to overnight downtown in Madrid. Do not expect a romantic room with roses. Very well located (20 metres from subway) and very clean. At the begining it looks a bit old, but the matress is great and the pressure of hot water is wonderful. There is a Starbucks close... More

Need to stay in Madrid for business at the American Embassy, and had to move around for 3 days , and it was close to every place that I need to go, and close to the subway as well. Internet, air conditioning, your own bathroom and a comfy bed made me leave madrid feeling I got my money's worth. A... More

Excellent security, the front door to the building is locked as well as entrance into the hostel. The rooms are very quaint, has a toilet, shower, tv, and a comfortable bed. It does not have cooking facilities. The metro was beside the hostel or you could walk to different parks, shopping, if you're so inclined. I would stay there again.

Great location, 50 m from the metro ALONSO MARTINEZ station (for connection to airport) and city center is in easy walking distance. The room is clean and very comfortable. I would stay there if I travel again.

Myself and my partner have just come back from 4 nights in this hostal. I booked it in November 2013 as a Christmas present. I have to say this is a perfect hostal for back packers or couples who wish to use the hostal as simply a place to leave your bag. The room was extremely clean and was a... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
