Excellent location and unbeatable price. We arrived in something of a building site, with electrical fittings hanging from the ceiling but were happy with our small room with en-suite. The room had a small window, which gave no view but illuminated the entire room at night when people came into the hostel, a comfy bed, an en-suite with a wall... More

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. We knew that it's a one-star hotel and that we shouldn't expect much. But service was just too terrible. We arrived in Madrid midnight. Tired and sleepy, we looked for Calle del Espejo. It was a bit difficult to find but not the hotel's fault. When we finally got there, we rang... More

Very centrally located hostal. Obviously for money paid one cannot expect five star hotel. The service provided was, however, a good value for the money. Linen changed and room clened every day, bathroom clean etc.

A genuine 2/3 minute walk from Opera Metro Station and within easy walking distance of loads of Madrid's main attractions. The Hotel was very basic and up 2 flights of stairs but they are half way through installing a lift and the staff are very friendly. Would definitely stay there again.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
