The downside to the Caleta Hotel is the location relevant to the town area of Gibraltar. At the same time, this tends to be an upside. Have just returned from a week there, out of season. We had just about every type of weather and that variety was to prove crucial to the Caleta experience. Having read previous reviews we booked a deluxe sea view room expecting to get a better standard than some of the rooms described previously. Not four star, travelled all over the world and this was an appalling hotel-staff were rude and slow, hotel needs revamp-all furniture old and tatty, room was dirty (stains on carpet, hairs in shower), at least a 10 min taxi drive from the centre. really good hotel in a good location. saw monkeys just outside the hotel on the first night which was a good start! bus stop is a five minute walk from the hotel and it is 60p for a single fare in to the town. hotel pool is nothing special but has everything you need (comfy sun loungers, parasols and towels).... more

My family and I stayed at the Caleta in July 2008. We had booked a family room to accomodate the five of us (2 adults./3 teenagers). From the outside the hotel looks good.
